When I ordered mine, I got the large to be on the safe side. I used it and it worked great but my wife had a hard time with it and she wont drive the boat so shes the anchor woman. I called and ordered a small which has worked fine. My boat is a 26' but its a Liberator which is likely heavier than alot of the bigger go fast boats around here. I always try to walk the line to the stern to bring it up on the swim platform anyway.

I got into one situation where we had to anchor just off shore on a very deep drop off. I threw my regular style anchor out front and managed to get it hooked. I dropped the box anchor off the back which was only in a couple of feet of water. The bottom was all medium sized rocks. I dragged the box anchor up onto shore and piled rocks inside it. This was at a party on an island in Traverse City Michigan. I'll bet they sold 50 box anchors the next day.

I'm going to go ahead and give it a shot with the 25-30' anchor model. I'm hoping it will hold the boat while anchored in some stout ocean current near an inlet bridge (Friday Duck Inn beach parties ) with maybe another boat or two or three rafted up. I love the idea of no chain and the advertised shorter rode requirement. As I mentioned earlier, the bottoms I mostly drop in are sandy or very silty at worst. Deepest water to ever consider practicality-wise around here would be 30' at high tide out of the main channel to the Chesbay Bridge Tunnel. The conventional anchors are normally cumbersome and notorious for being uncooperative in getting set. We shall see....
