That was surely and alarming threat to the oil producers then... which happened to be U.S.A and Russia at the time.

But fast forward to today... by regulating the oil to a certain affordable level the boatindustry can also prosper.
India also tired to become independent of oil especially diesel in the 50´s but oil was so cheap at the time the need just washed away. Nowadays because of the pollution in india it´s making a comeback.
