I just want to be able to go out on the water on a day where its beautiful but windy and not have to worry about it being to rough to make it to one of the calm parts of the lake. This is going to take some persuading on my part due to the fact I now have to save up for a wedding but i think it can be done.

Do you guys think i'd have any issues with re-learing controls going from 1 to 2 engines?

jeff32 07-31-2009 06:09 AM

just as simple as single engine if not easier... don't worry about these things!

RHM253 07-31-2009 06:43 AM

"the fact I now have to save up for a wedding". That is your in. Honey look what I got you for a wedding present, hope you like it because I'm NOT taking it back.

The weather sucks today, hopefully it gets better by the end of the day, we're heading down anyway. Hopefully will see some of the crew out.

cowisl 07-31-2009 08:14 AM

The time I saw it out it looked like it cruised well but he was not going more than 80.

I have not seen him lay it on yet but I just saw him a couple times out.

Great looking old boat, classic. Those were pretty heavy, saw where it has a tandem axle trailer. What's the limit for those versus triple axles?

Today, south wind kicking up as always after a rainy day. Looks like 27 feet and up Slinky.

Slinky 08-01-2009 09:51 PM

we stuck around up here it BAB....didnt get into the water until 330...gotta love running a lawn care business with the rainy summer we had..gotta mow when the weather is nice and the toys get put aside till after the works done. Wish the weather would hold out for tomorrow.....that 27 footer would have made a decision to head south a no brainer.

jpmac 08-02-2009 05:14 PM

Weather wasn't quite as predicted......had a nice blow from the SE. Thayers was the spot but the hvy rollers in the broad lake kept us on our own tuff (of course Treadwell was just collecting everything blowing in so we went to our alternate on the NW corner of Valcour......nice and calm! A few shots from yesterday........when it finally laid down a bit, Tom Caroline and Michael shot across and we all grabbed dinner at Clare & Carls.

My Cousin Lynda from Boston and I bucked the giamundo rollers on the broad lake Saturday, from NY to Thayers Beach on Doc's SeaDoo while he was racing with G.L. on Onieda Lake. Wet n' Wild ride! Charlie and Nancy our only witnesses at Thayer's Beach. The water temps felt warm and it was SO MUCH FUN! :cheer:

It is probably the angle of wave approach. We are not experiencing any body damage. We headed east/west which was perfect for the south wind. Very few hard landings for us, but with big water all around us. But what do you expect when I have learned from Speed Racer - Doc John! He is my supportive mentor! WE had sooooo much fun!!!!! Nothing bad. To Quote G.L., "It's All Good!" :drink:

It was a bit painful Saturday, but not as bad as the drenching I took yesterday.

Thayer's is getting a bit weird. I was there Saturday, me and a cast of thousands. What's with all the boneheads cruising at big wakes plow speed right next to boats at anchor? One guy in an old cruiser was at idle in front of me, possible engine turned off. He kept drifting towards my bow as I watched. I tilted my head when one of his passengers pointed to my boat. He seemed a little disturbed that I was even interested in his drifting boat.

He then wandered around the bay a little, and proceeded to wakeboard in circles near all the anchored boats. Not much fun at anchor when drinks are spilling and boats are rocking violently from the wakes. It's getting to the point where there's fewer idiots on the golf course. Now that's a scary thought .

was the dragon boat race yesterday? how did you do?

i've noticed there are a lot more idiots out on the water period. Some people just dont care about anyone but themselves.

Carol.......we'll get more calm days at Treadwell where you can show-off your volleyball skills once again!

VtSteve 08-03-2009 02:40 PM

It was a pretty rough day for long, narrow boats inches off the water. Some filled up with water, I think two or three dumped. Back at the dock, it rained so hard when we came in I thought marbles were falling. They called it off short at around 12:30 or 1. They could no longer risk having some very real problems having 16 plus people per boat, many very inexperienced on water, being thrown into rough water. I think the CG suggested it as well.

The downside is that a lot of money is left on the table, as concessions and sales are way down. Thanks for anyone that contributed to the online link I left for our boat, I got some feedback that our boat did in fact have online dollars in it. Appreciated greatly. I'm putting more bucks in to help alleviate the shortfall from yesterday. I think a summer camp for kids with cancer is a truly great thing. Since I'm not filling the boat up much this summer, I'll donate that.

i thought you worked for a dealership? i dont mean where your docked right now.
btw when are you coming back this way? Definately going to get out on the lake this weekend! weather is looking good so far!

jeff32 08-04-2009 05:56 PM

I thought you were asking if there were many speed boat in burton... Yes I work in a GM dealership, but yes I also sell used sport boat. so, in my warehouse, I'm only surrounded by speed boat! some cruisers once in a while I get on trade...

Don't get me wrong! the prestancia I just drove runs perfect. it was my first time out in a 30 foot cruiser twins 4.3. will definatly stick to speed boat for a while!

will come back on that later!

I'm back with not much time, but a little...

Funny thing is I almost got lost one time for deep bay, and I got lost coming back from burton looking for the bridge... reason? this boat runs so slow (roughly 25 to 28 mph at 3600-4000 rpm) that I lost the kind of momentum I had in the other boat, like if you see this bay, 5 minutes later it is this island, or this beach or whatever else... so I was driving waiting for the next spot to come I rely on to know where I am, and then I would doubt if it was the one or not, because it felt so long... different type of problem than GLH would have at 100 plus mph! But honestly I could not find the kind of rythm I was used to at 40-50 mph... I'm not a good captain for sure!

Some good south wind today but not that bad, 3 to 4 foot waves... funny how a cruiser slows down when plowing thru the big waves instead of our go fast wich more likely bang on the wave or walk above instead of plowing...

next time on the lake should be with the 35-7, can't tell when...

Anyone knows who owns this boat?

Slinky 08-06-2009 07:48 AM

i've never seen it before, going to have to ask around to see who it is.
