Hey guys I am coming up with my sutphen 26 this weekend. Hows the weather looking conditions etc.
My wife is 8 months and I'll have my 3 year old, so I will be taking it easy probably stay in the mallets bay area I am thinking, but may get out solo or with freinds at some point too? Had a great time last year with the sutphen and a few years before on the jestskis. I know it can get nasty rough over there. I think it gets worse than LI sound to be honest. |

More than likely it was Martin with the outerlimits he has the Harley dealership in Sherbrook Canada and usually hangs with Richard that has the yellow 43 Nortech V. They boat out of Mooney bay north of Deep Bay on the NY side.

Some beautiful boats out there on Sunday, a great looking red one, as I could see paddling in the Dragonboat.
Speaking of which, my old body has been drafted to be on the Dragonboat called "WINGED LADY OF THE LAKE AND ARTHUR". on Sunday, August 2nd. My old shoulders were out practicing and paddling around Burlington harbor on Sunday. It truly is harder than I thought. This year, Camp Ta-Kum-Ta will be the charity benefitting from the Lake Champlain Dragonboat festival. Camp Ta-Kum-Ta needs a new home, and has provided summer fun for kids with cancer for years. There will be 2,000 people racing in these long 41' boats, 21 per team. Summary of Dragonheart Vermont's mission. Dragonheart Vermont, a breast cancer survivor and supporter dragon boat team, is again hosting this exciting community event. It's all for fun and fundraising. Since the Festival began in 2006, our local community has raised over $300,000 for charity. This year’s Pledge Partners are Vermont's Camp-Ta-Kum-Ta for kids with cancer and Dragonheart Vermont. It's a full day of fun, color and pageantry with music, food, a silent auction and entertainment for the whole family. We're doing this all for a good cause. If you'd like to donate, and spur our team to victory, here's the link to do so online. http://www.ridethedragon.org/donation Again, my boat's team is called "WINGED LADY OF THE LAKE AND ARTHUR". Simply select from the pull down menu. Thanks for the support Steve |
I saw all the boats out there! some of the people onthe bull horns did not sound too nice...i would have thrown them off the boat! But that looks like more work than i ever want to do! good luck with the race and its definately for a good cause!

Truly a great cause this year as always. Now I just have to find a way to paddle like heII for over two minutes and not have a heart attack :cool-smiley-011: Might mean having to chain smoke for an hour before hand. Whatever it takes.
Seriously though, it's an unbelievable turnout. Last year it rained for the entire day, yet the waterfront was packed solid until 4 or later. On our boat I believe three women are survivors, and one guy is physically hampered and is still paddling. I don't have much to complain about when I see these people, and the kids that get to go to the camp each year. Some pretty amazing stories. |

Some pretty amazing stories. we were talking with the dock hands sunday and they said its crazy the amount of people that come out for this event. |
I was truly amazed at the shear volume of people that were there, most of the all day long, in the pouring rain. There was barely any space left on the entire Burlington waterfront area. We board the boats down next to the CG station at the launch.
This event gives me a taste of how great DaveP's event is down in NJ for the Make a Wish boat ride day. A tremendous amount of planning and work goes into these events, and I can now understand just how hard it is to produce an event like his club puts on down in Jersey. Unbelievable! It would be great if we could ever do such an event like that here on Champlain as well. But I'll take one event at a time, and just do my best to keep the boats manned. I don't think I've put 7 hours on my own boat yet this year, but I know the algae has  At any rate, pass the word and the donation link around if you can. It's 100% towards charity, and whom ever's not putting gas in their boat during this miserable summer, can help fill our boat with donations for the kid's camp. Here's a direct link to this year's charity. http://www.takumta.org/ And again, Here's the donation link. http://www.ridethedragon.org/donation Again, my boat's team is called "WINGED LADY OF THE LAKE AND ARTHUR". Simply select from the pull down menu. Our boat is one of two boats this year sponsored by Goodrich Corp. in Vergennes, last year, they had only one. Fill up our boat with donations this year for the kids, and maybe more than two boats next year. Maybe I'll see some of you guys down at the waterfront Sunday cheering us on. |
question for champlain guys... I have not been on the lake yet this year. not this monday but next one I'm planning to go to the beach with the kids. If I plan according to what I saw on the st-laurence last week, there ai'nt no beach left because the water is so high!!!!
So, question is, are there any beaches left on the lake or they are all flooded? |
Jeff, your fine down here. All the beaches south of the border are no problem........Threadwell, Cumberland Bay, Thayers (although you can't get close to the beach now), North Beach outside Burlington...etc, etc
|
Actually hit the lake this evening. Met up with Robin and Lyn (had dinner at the Champlain Marina). Also met up with Robin and Shannon (little father/daughter quality time...nice)! Didn't quite miss the rain coming back but had a great recovery at the launch thanks to my first mate Patti!! :Score-101010: We'll be out tomorrow, doesn't look too bad!

Thayers may be roped off but I ended up at North beach on monday and had a great time. Still plenty of area to drop anchor close to shore.
never made it over to thayers Whats the point now really! sunday looked iffy so I didnt put in had family obligations and went out to the burlington brawl Cage fight that was a good show. |
Thayers will open again soon.We had a meeting with the town and made our point. The area should be back open to boats soon.No anchors on the beach and no trash dropped at cans, also no dogs.We were all aware of most of these rules before, just a few out of towners did'nt obey.
|
Glad to hear that Tom....surprised they "listened to reason"? Will you be out today..........at the camp?
|
We will be out today Jim. Going to the Shelburne Museum with Michael for Extreme dirt bikes at 11:00.Nice display of every type of motorcycles there also.Call you later:Tom
|
weather is looking decent for saturday...hoping to have whatever i need done before the weekend so i can get out on the water....
just got engaged friday so the bigger boat fund went out the window! :( |
The wife ,kids and I had a great 2 weeks on the lake. It was nice to see everyone again. You have a great looking boat Tom and if your friend is interested i am willing to let mine go for 80g. I really don"t have much use for here down here. Also GLH's rig isn"t to bad as well..Although I think Klees boat is a little more practical...:drink:
|
Great to hear Thayers will be reopened to boats. Its a very nice clean place to enjoy and hopefully ALL boaters will respect the rules and keep it open to us in the future.
We really enjoy the lake when we are there and hope tpo have alot more trips there in the future |
Thanks Claude,it was nice to see you, Lisa and the boys.I will talk to my friend about your boat.We just got in from one of the best days on our lake.
Take care Claude. |
.
Have reservations at Breakwater's for friday, hope the weather holds. Plan on staying that night and Thayers on sat. Hopefully the boat cops don't kill us for being too close to the beach :bsflag:
|

Slink...that is NYS only and basically is for the "hunting/winter" season...starts this Nov and ends in April and then continueing each fall.Too many hunters standing to take a leak in their smaller boats, falling in and drowning with their heavy clothing is what lead them to the new law!!! Unless your rafting in December, you don't have anything to worry about:drink::drink:

me too...i think that would be a good step up for us. Now its just a matter of talking the woman into it.
That one there has been for sale for a while...the owner said they dont have any lakes in their area big enough for it and want to down size. I might look into seeing if they want to do some sort of swap, though i'm sure there are probably better deals than that out there. |
