Is this ActiveThunderOnly.com???

Why is it everywhere I go on this board lately, there's an Active Thunder owner...either saying how great his boat is or bashing another boat...what's the deal? Are you guys just trying to make up for certain inadequacies??

give it a rest...

PhantomChaos 03-18-2002 12:05 PM

audacity 03-18-2002 12:09 PM

myself, I try never to bash anyone to make up for my inadequacies. but I will be the first to say there are a lot of products out there that have their own special niche and purpose design....I personally thrive in a rough water environment and would like a boat to perform in it. so this is where my opinion is based from.

Ike 03-18-2002 12:19 PM

I agree Sean.

cashmoney 03-18-2002 12:37 PM

sean I know what you mean....I'm gettin it at home too...thats all I hear from the wife on the boat issue..AT...AT...AT....I may have to get a 32 next winter to shut her up..:D

audacity 03-18-2002 12:44 PM

well,,,make it so CM!!!! all the hot women love the AT's!!!!LOL

thunderdan 03-18-2002 01:02 PM

Sean,

Most of the posts I have made have been a response to a thread where someone has asked for input. Also, I am not sure that I have ever bashed anyone's choice on boats. Inadequacies?:D Everyone, including myself loves thier choice of boats and are happy to talk about them. Lets just get back to sharing boating experience and having a good time.

Come on, can't we all just get along?:D

The Wizard 03-18-2002 01:18 PM

Hey Sean!!

Whats doing buddy? I'm getting excited about the summer, can't wait. Are you going to the Offshore Powerboat meeting on Thursday the 21st? A bunch of the boys are heading over there and see what they have to say. Call me when you have a moment, so we can make some plans (516)549-5730.

As far as the post about AT's... very amusing. :D :D

;)zzie

Indy 03-18-2002 01:27 PM

They sure are a loyal bunch aren't they :D I have to admit they are nice boats, I'll be checking them out when the time comes. But there are many other great manufacturers I'll be looking at also.

audacity 03-18-2002 01:32 PM

make no mistake...i am not brand loyal! i give credit where credit is due...no more no less...and NO BS!

ScreaminDemon 03-18-2002 01:41 PM

now i have seen/read everything!

sean - actually, i think its neat to see how a company can create such a following and grow right before our eyes. i have seen some serious loyalty from the owners, but there must be a reason. most of it appears to be in defense of the product when others attack the manufacturer and their history. why does this bug you, isn't that what people on this board come here for, to read up on the experiences and opinions? or did you prefer this board when all the jerks were posting profanity?

Sean 03-18-2002 01:44 PM

Ike knows what I'm talking about...

Anyway, I always get along...

Oz, I'll give ya a shout

Indy, thanks for the support! I'd like to sell the boat, but if I gotta keep it, I'll have fun with it for another couple of summers!

Jassman 03-18-2002 02:06 PM

First of all Sean, the thread was fine and informational, until WORLDCHAMPIONCIGARETTE was being a horses ass, and sent a email to me from a disguised address, from Miami, same one I got about 6 months ago when I ordered my Thunder. I call it like it is, and dont b.s., nor do I slam other manufactures, unlike a few of you guys on the Cigareete site. You guys have your point of view, and we have ours, the difference is we have been in your boats, and very few of you guys have been in ours, the Poker Runs will prove out. We all know that Cig makes a fine boat, I dont argue that, Ive been on many, but they have also had their problems, just like every other manufacturer. Bottom line the board is for info, comradery, fun, poker runs, and stuff that takes a little stress out of our lives. It sure would be nice if we could all play as adults, its much better having friends on this board than enemies. :) Good Luck to you Cig guys and gals, along with everyone else on this board, except W.C.Cigarette, I know who you are now, and I hope you fold.:p

dyno 03-18-2002 02:22 PM

everyone is intitled to an opinion... but whats with the new add in powerboat....AT calling themselves the Scatter of V-bottom....come on thats pushing it!

ActiveThunderTodd 03-18-2002 04:03 PM

Sean,

I would really like it if you would find an exact quoate where an AT owner has bashed another boat brand. I think you will find that every AT owner on here has said how great each of the other brands are and that the choice is up to what the individual wants in their boat. Cigs, OL, Formulas, Huslers, Fountains and all the rest are all fine machines. Anyone would be lucky to own any one of these boats. I think forums like this only make each one of the boat maufacturers stand up and take notice of what the customers really want.

Us AT owners can't help it if there isn't the same enthusiasm among the other boat brand owners as there is with us. That shouldn't mean that the rest of you should bash us because we are totally sold on our boat as well as we're sold on the owners of the company who stand behind their product.

Support your boat brand, don't rip us for supporting ours.

Todd

ActiveThunderTodd 03-18-2002 04:08 PM

And if you had read the ad clearly...its not Active Thunder calling themselves the Skater of V bttoms it is a Skater owner himself. Mark House has ownerd and raced Skaters for years and this was his quote, not the company's. AT just used what a Skater owner felt about their product when he was looking for a V bottom. Please get your facts right.

Jassman 03-18-2002 04:12 PM

Dyno, its: (SKATER of V Bottoms):p If they were saying that about Sonics, you'd probably not have a problem with it, hey, take care bud:D

32fever 03-18-2002 04:24 PM

I figured I'd post this in this thread so it gets seen :)

nothing bad to say about AT or any other boat, and I think it's just enthusiasm of guys that wanna come to a site and talk about the awesome boats they are having built. I'm sure guys are buildling Cigs, OL, Bajas, and Fountains, etc, but just lurking instead of posting. Although I think AT must give them discounts for # of posts, that may be it.. LOL! The only drawback is they do sometimes speak as if they've owned them for a while, and they haven't. Great boats, but maybe people are reading and "assuming" maybe some have own them for a while. Can't argue with what Mark House has to say, though. Anyway, again, nothing bad to say, just observations. The other thing is though, they all offer rides, too. MAybe we should all take them up on it. Let's see 4000 people, 4 passengers per boat...1000 rides. They'll go bankrupt from the gas expenses. LOL If only they werew closer to me, I'd take them up on it:)

The only thing I've seen lately that has bothered me about the company is the new AT logo. Looked at the Monsoon boat, and while I LOVE the paint scheme, the oval logo thing on the rear side of the boat is a little too much. come on AT. Let's be original. HOw about anything but an oval like Cig and Outerlimits? Really disappointing.

Mark

Sean 03-18-2002 04:30 PM

Hey Todd,

If you know me like those here who do, you'll know that I don't usually go off half-cocked without being able to back myself up. That being said, why don't you check out the Apache owner's forum before trying to call me out on something.

This Active Thunder bandwagon has become tiresome. I believe in supporting one's choice in boats but you guys talk about AT like it's the best thing to come along since sliced bread. Put an AT next to a Sonic and unless they have their signature paint schemes, you wouldn't be able to tell them a part...there's nothing revolutionary about AT...The inflated claims of running in 10-12 footers are just ridiculous and exagerated claims of being the fastest V-bottom on the water are just as ridiculous.

You guys will do just about anything to pump AT...go back an look at the Cigarette/AT thread(setting aside the worldchampioncigarette comments)---Gordo starts talking about how many wins he's had in his F-1 boat and while that's great and we're all proud of him, what benefit did it have for those trying to chose between a Cigarette and an AT---NONE.

Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning...

Advantage_Rob 03-18-2002 04:42 PM

Man, this is better than watching a pro ping pong competition!!!!:p ;) :D

Ike 03-18-2002 05:01 PM

Sean, you hit right on the head!

cuda 03-18-2002 05:12 PM

I've always wondered................what was the best thing BEFORE sliced bread???? :D :)

ActiveThunderTodd 03-18-2002 05:29 PM

Sean,

If an At owner bashed another boat brand please copy it and post it. As far as exagerated claims of 10-12 I personally have been in that kind of water in my 32'. As far as AT looking like Sonics....they are similar but not the same. Actually one could say that all offshore go fast v bottoms look very similar. As far as the AT "bandwagon" ..the only time Ive seen post about AT's is when someone asks a question regarding what kind of boat do people recomend. Can't help it if we (AT owners) are very very happy with our product and like to tell others about it.

Keep in mind however that this thread was started by you complaining of our enthusiasm. If you didn't want to hear more on Active Thunders then you shouldn't have started this thread.

And as far as Gordo response in the other thread, he was just responding to WCC's claim that At hasn't done anything in racing. Thats all nothing more, cause you're right, it makes no difference in someone's descision on AT vs Cig. That should be made after they look at everything pertaining to them. Personally I love Cigs. It was the people behind the product that really sold me.

I realy don't now what bug you have up your butt regarding AT owners and their love of their boats but you really should get off of it. Like I said before...we can't help it if others don't belive as strongly in their product as we do.

I have always encouraged anyone whose interested in buying a new boat to weigh all things that matter to them and then go for a ride and get to know the principles behind the product. Each will make up their own mind...doesn't mean we can't express why we made the descions we did.

And lastly I've owned my boat Sept 99. Have over 320 hrs on it and have boated in some of the most extreme conditions one would dare to in a 32' boat. I DO know what I'm talking about regarding MY AT and how it has held up and how it has performed.

pullmytrigger 03-18-2002 05:32 PM

When it comes to vee bottom racing, we all know who the undisputed king is, by a huge margin..........look to the left!!!!

ToddW 03-18-2002 05:33 PM

32fever,
Thanks for the compliment on the paint scheme "MONSOON". That's our boat being built by AT. We personally like the logo, as well as, all this new attention of being compared to outerlimits and cig.

First, I don't like them at all on any boat. It breaks up all the cool paint jobs. But I think AT should be original. The innovator always does the best and makes the most money. The copycat is always that, following the lead of others. I liked the old logo fine, not sure why they'd change. Some new image thing? But why change it to something like that?

In my business, I don't want to be compared to my competition, I want my competition to be compared to me.

But your boat is cool, I do like those graphics. More along the lines of what I'd do if my wife let me build a new boat:) Damn her...You'll probably be the only AT way out there in AZ, eh?

ActiveThunderTodd 03-18-2002 06:20 PM

I wasn't bashing all Cigs. Just one in particular. I was trying to make a point that Cigs aren't perfect. Just like any mechanical machine if they're not taken care of they will fall apart. WCC had said that take one ride in rough stuff in an AT and everything would be falling apart in them. I was trying to point out that Ive seen other boat brand that look rough after heavy use. As I have stated on here many many many times, I don't think a person can go wrong with just about any boat brand they desire. I really think you all need to relax regarding the enthusiasm of the new AT owners. As you all can see by the number of post I don't post all that much considering I've been a member since the board came online.

I've also seen an Outerlimits ('99) with rear seats that you can't sit on cause its rotting away. I've seen a Formula and Fountain each with a destroyed windshield after being out in the really rough stuff. I've also seen Sunsation that delaminated after landing on its side in Miami. I've seen a Baja that had to have the transom replaced cause it was rotting. I've also seen all of the brands of boats that look absolutly perfect after heavy and hard usage. My point was to show World Champ Cig that HIS brand of boat wasn't perfect. Thats all nothing more. The bashing and harsh words started by others...not me and not other AT owners. Just defending my points here.

BTW...Back 4 more...we've met in Chicago. I'm really not sure why you have a beef with AT owners here. You have a beautiful Fountain and I don't remember anybody bashing your boat.

cigarette1 03-18-2002 06:20 PM

SSSSSShaneSSSSSSherman ...... sounds excellent Bro .... Let's pray together for BIG WATER :D

Hey Joe, it won't be hard to run up on me .... all I got is a tug boat ... always bringing up the rear :D ... BUT, we do carry a big measuring stick

audacity 03-18-2002 06:21 PM

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inadequacies? You have been looking in the Mirror I guess!

Why in the Hell should it bother you that AT has a Happy Customer Base?? For one.
Hey go play in the ashtray If you do not like the general forum.
In closing what AT does others should try to emulate not bash, It would help them Business and Friendship wise.

also Best Regards:p

audacity 03-18-2002 06:30 PM

i hope everyone knows i'm just mess'n...i'm a VERY easy go'n guy...racing excluded!...all in fun!!!...anything that floats in my book is cool!!! it's about have'n FUN!
