We just got a exhaust header/tailpipe assembly water redo from Mercury Racing that said there was a problem with headers over heating if there is a shortage of water to the headers from a water pump failure for example and water winds up in the motor
Does the water re-route kit fix this problem as well or should a automatic header drain kit be installed I could really use some help making a decision with this I have a copy of the paper mercury sent us if I need to scan and post I will for anyone to see I discovered that Mercury racing had removed this hose on later 600/700 motors because of the many water pressure issues with the 600sci and 700sci motors they were having. This hose is one of the major causes of low water pressure and possible header discoloration. Removal of this hose is explained as part of the water re-route for the innercooler on these motors that is included in Whipples upgrade kits. Chris |

If you have a water hose coming off the rear of the water log which feeds the bottom of the headers, and this hose connects to the tailpipe, then remove this hose and cap off the rear of the water log with a pipe plug, and cap off the tail pipe side with an apporopriate sized cane end.

Chris According to my diagram you also have to drill a larger whole in the tail pipe feed bypass hose |

According to my diagram you also have to drill a larger whole in the tail pipe feed bypass hose I would love to be able to open that file. Chris |

I could not open the file you attached, but yes, we also opened up the water restrictor holes in the top of the tail pipes.
I would love to be able to open that file. Chris Has Dustin finished and sold you a new flame arrestor? |
I was able to open your file.... thanks... that is very similar to what we did.
The engine process was delayed due to the extreme time it took to develop a CNC program for the heads. The motor is back on the dyno, and we should see some numbers today. Chris |

Hydromotive P5x 30-31 pitch at 6100 rpm should get me there. I am now doing 92.5-93.3 spinning a 30 P5x at 5600 rpm. (91.5-92.1 every day)
Chris How do you feel about the Hydro P5X? Any opinion / info on the Hydro vs the Merc Maximus? |
Chris so you did drill out the stb. side to 13/32 at the tail pipe

Chris I finally got a new scanner see if you open this one
Has Dustin finished and sold you a new flame arrestor? I couldn't get the first one open either, this one is fine. Does this apply to the 525's as well, or just the 600/700 SC motors? |

How did you get your boat to turn 5600 with out hitting rev limiters:party-smiley-004: Is this a Merc recall of sorts? If you can find out I would like to know. Mine @ 5600? :lolhit: Did I miss something here? |
