How do you feel about the Hydro P5X?

Any opinion / info on the Hydro vs the Merc Maximus?

I have not tried a Maximus.
I want to try one of the 15", short tailed, Mercury labbed Maximus's on my boat to see if it provides more bow lift than the p5x.

Overall, really like the p5x that I have had labbed by Hering (they are right up the street)... I wish it had more bow lift.

A labbed Bravo lets the stern settle more than the p5x, and is therefore a bit more stable at top end, but the p5x is faster by a couple of mph everywhere.

Hoping that a 15" Maximus might be the best overall.

Does the 15" Maximus provide more bow lift than a p5x??
I don't know, but will be finding out.

gnortha,

Are we talking about eliminating the hose from the lower feed rail to the tail pipe here? I went and looked at mine this afternoon and I do have the jumper hose as well. Do you have a service bulletin number for this deal?

Thanks for the info! Your numbers sound super for a single engine rig.

I'm in the process of deciding where to go next with the props. In talking with Scott Reichow (sp) @ Merc Racing I am leaning towards the Maxes. He has told me that if he is wrong on his recomended prop he will make me a new set, not dick around with the ones he sends, but make me a new set to meet my needs. Very hard offer to beat! The rest of the prop wizzards don't want to hear about their fock ups. I sometimes wonder to myself just when these prop gurus are going to step up and take some ownership of what they lead us to believe they can do. I have a bunch of money in a set of that have gone steadily downhill from day one, the comment is "Well I guess if I had it to do over ..."

Back to this water routing issue ................. Does this involve the 525's as well?

Here you go guys...

Bolt on another 20+ horsepower in the over 730hp range.
Brought to you from your friends at Whipple Industries.

This is a picture of the first piece before polishing or anodizing. You can have the billet ends color matched to your motor.

Here is a picture of the finalized air filter.
The billet can be anodized to match your motor color.

They really look great in polished form, billet clamp system gives a trick smooth look.
Polished screen and end plate with multiple angles reflect LED lights nicely:drink:.

Were you able to talk to Whipple about a group buy discount?
