What are the specs of the motor? Cam, heads, carb and intake. Just so that others can have an idea of what gets you what.

Did you try different timing? What happened to the EGT's with the timing changes?

Specs are;

L2465 TRW pistons 9.6:1, Federal Mogul E-233K+.030 rings
cast crank with stock rods-3/8 ARP rod bolts
Merlin oval port heads, Fed. Mog. 2.19 intake, 1.88 exhaust valves
Federal Mogul VS1581 valve springs, 105 lbs closed, 310 open
dual-plane intake, Holley 800 carb, 75 pri., 89 sec. jets
Federal Mogul CS1140R cam, 234/244 [email protected], .553/.578 lift
Federal Mogul HT817 hydraulic lifters
Federal Mogul- 4400-.010 main brgs, 3190CP-.010 rod brgs
Fed. Mog. 1404 cam brgs
Federal Mogul gasket set #260-1009
Federal Mogul timing chain set #KT3-171S
Oil pumps were not replaced. Disassembled and clearanced.
Cam was installed at "0" advance
Rotating assembly was balanced
Main brg. clearances are 1-2-3-4, .002. #5, .003
Rod brg. clearance is .0025
Initial timing, 15 degrees, total advance 32 degrees
At Tom Earhart's suggestion, no timing changes were made.
KAAMA was watching the EGT's and oil pressures during all the runs and EGT's were always below 1400, oil pressures during the pulls were 65-70
Thanks go to Tom Earhart for the great time had by all of us at his shop, and to Gary and Sheryl Garvelink at G&G Performance Engines for the great machine work.
Dyno's engines are almost identical to this, the only difference being Federal Mogul hypereutectic pistons, #H693CP+.030, 9.5:1

That will be the real test. It'll be interesting to see how the boat performs compared to the previous speeds with the old engine setup.

I like that torque staying at 500 or a bit more starting at 3000 and going to 5000 that should set you back in your seat, when is the first water test?.....Fred
