Thad Allen's Apache + The Birth of the Cheetah Cat

Ed , the game is about "Apparent" surface area and imposing a running attitude , Imagine we cut the boat in 3 or4 pieces and reassemble the thing with the rear sections angled down 2-3 Degrees to the aft , the whole thing is about Friction and trying to lose some as the boat gains speed the running surface goes further to the transom , We have higher pressure in a smaller area of friction is the result , the attitude ? some boats like 3 degrees angle of attack , again up to the cleverness of the designer in shedding the affinity of that glob of water wanting to Cling to the boat hull , Speed , Fuel economy , and longevity of everything in the propulsion system will benefit Greatly .
I actually understood a little bit of that! LOL!

Steve,
I don't imagine the 19 your boys are building will look like this one. It was a Morelli and Melvin 19' design we built with core cel and epoxy/glass skins in maybe 1995?? The owner changed boats often, but he told me he will never sell this one. He had another builder 5 years later build a smaller one with verticle tunnel walls and it threw him out of the boat in a turn the first time he tried it.
All the early cats had symetrical hulls, but you see the off shore boats now with asymmetric hulls. How come?

Here is my personal Flats Boat 18 Feet all up bagging Dow 470-36 Resin 1'airex core 450# hull and deck, 37 Gallon composite tank in the Bow, the polling platform is also composite as it's legs witch were hi density Foam made in a kind of an oval shape with unidirectional s bagged around them ,I had built a large box spar inside between them to keep everything honest.
The Gelcoat was a white fade to blue on the sides, the boot stripe is a flop of that, white Bottom, Cool boat 50+ with a 70.
The colors remember this was from the Miami Vice days
This Boat was from a panel built Plug.
