Are you going to have the port shaft inspected, to find out if the crack was a result of fatigue or tampering, poor heat treating??
or other defect? |
Inspection
Yes- we are going to have both shafts analyzed so we can find out definitively what happened.
|
Are you thinking your going to make LOTO?
|

We saw the boat at Skater on Friday, and watched it race on Sunday. It looked good, but carried the nose a bit low.
And then this happened......... I do like the fact that JBS has opted to spin the propellers in the correct direction (Out)......... :D |

people will forget races and even world championships these days. or any days for that matter!! but speed records are what people remember! |

peter at skater has many years of building boats and relies on customers/racers input for future development. from top racers like johny t. to his customers that know next to nothing. all have something to offer. SORTING all that info/bs and turning it into a great product is something he has proven. peter is very aware of our goals. both short and long term. he has been very open to what our input has been so far. hence the boat is being changed at skater's facility. i am waiting for a overnight air package: broken shaft, adjustable t53 engine puller we designed, and some BPM tools. i will then be at a laboratory for the shaft. i then have a $hit ton of other work. which should be done by 2am. at that point i will pull an all nighter, drive to skater and spend the rest of the day working on both engines and then pulling both out to do hot ends. SKATERDAVE...if you know so much??? or anyone else i IMPLORE you to POST something POSITIVE that JBS Racing and or SKATER should be doing? because according to you we have no idea. skater/peter is included in that last statement because why would he be doing ANYTHING for a team like ours; according to you!!?? i assure you it's not the money! it's NOT one of his boats! if it was he would take the boat in, do what he wanted and told us to come back with a check later!!! i am not that hard to find nor do i HIDE behind a screen name! so to reiterate! IF YOU HAVE GOOD INPUT FOR US? please contact me personally on my cell 734-635-1697 day or night! i don't sleep much and this is my current priority. to those that have; I THANK YOU VERY MUCH! if my private messages fill (which they have) please email me direct. Some have had some great connections and definite valuable information. as a side note: you know they say: "there is no such thing as bad press!" i guess we'll just have to see how that works out for who? |
Be a man
Skaterdave-why can't you be a man and reveal yourself?stop hiding like a ***** behind your fake screen name.we would all love to meet you in person but I'm guessing you don't have the balls to show your face.

I bet you have met him in person. I've seen Skaterdave at several race sites in the last 5 years working with a couple of the top tier teams. Im pretty sure even if he did post his name, you still wouldnt have any idea who he is even tho he knows how to build a boat, rig a boat, a run a boat. He's telling you what he thinks. He questioning what you are posting. You post stuff on an open forum and that's what happens. You get opinions ..... |

Referals
I've had a lot of TM customers ask what they should do with their turbines-the answer is simple-have them gone through by a reputable turbine shop, like PPS then you know exactly what you have and exactly what you didn't have
|
Hey
Roll Royce had an uncontained failure in their test lab the other day with the new engine for the Dreamliner... while testing somthing new, thats whats testing for they say Best wishes to JBS |

After reading this thread I admire the drive and perseverance these guys possess . They were dealt a bad hand or two and never gave up . |
The last post that I had read on here by JBS Racing, was that Jeff was not going to race the Turbine Boat again and that he had something in the works to race a piston powered boat this year. Whatever his decision is, I wish him and his team all the best and look forward to seeing them racing again..

Classic Thread
|
This thread would have legs if JBS would post the evidence, videos, etc or admit this is another sniffle-fest about their equipment. Are there builders of higher quality than TM? Some may argue that. But each team makes their own decisions. Trying your case in the court of public opinion only works if you are backing it up with evidence. It's been two years and no video.
I am calling out JBS for the simple reason that the race industry is strained enough as it is. Unless you are backing up your negativity with evidence, consider posting on SOS where you will get the appropriate audience. Separate note: if you get to the South Florida area and have a few hours to spend at the Team Geico facility, it is time well spent. This is not to say other race teams are not well-equipped and/or willing to give their fans a tour. This is pointing out that you get a real feel for a solid presence in the offshore racing circuit by viewing their operation. They love their fans, they love their peers and they love the sport. |
I know what's going on but can not share unless JBS says so.

Does GEICO do business with TM anymore?

Team GEICO will be giving out these free turbine engines to any team the shows up to race. :party-smiley-004:

My point for post #372 is that people should wait until they are ready to provide evidence backing up their claims before throwing bombs around the chat boards. Instead of making claims and talking lawsuits, one should be ready to explain why they are making the accusations.
This issue and thread are almost 2 years old and there is no video or smoking gun to back-up the initial claims. All it has done so far is make JBS look like wimpy complainers. JBS could take a lesson (or many lessons) from the professional candor of GEICO. They had a business relationship with TM. They severed it. If GEICO felt it necessary to publicize why they left TM, they would have. Truth be known, there is a point where it is better to part ways in a dignified manner, unless it is incumbent on you to warm others. But if you are going to warn other, be sure you provide the evidence to back it up. Otherwise, you just look like a jilted lover or scorned woman. |
We are still friendly with John and TM, we just felt it was time to do everything for ourselves in house.
|
I'll add to my last post what should be obvious to most. If you are going to throw bombs online and delay backing up your accusations, other vendors will be leery of working with you. Why? What is your accusations are baseless? Why make some money off someone who shows the tendency to bomb you when they are done with the business relationship, even if you haven't done anything wrong.
Again, I am not defending TM or saying JBS is full on crap. But you can burn bridges not even crossed by acting this way. |

Very interesting thread to say the least, but after hours spent reading, the ending needs work. I know that the jbs mystic was sold to Tom in Michigan who brought it to and ran it at loto last year.(looked awesome up close by the way). Will you guys fill in and update on the saga? I did read t hat brandon Weppner took over for joey at throttle. After the 2010 michigan city propeller mishap did they ever run, race or win? What happened to Joey? It seemed that he was doing most of the talking/defending. Did he say too much? Did jeff can him for that? Apparently I was busy working on my own project during those years missed out on an interesting story.
Honestly, I wish I had that kind of money to go out and buy high dollar New equipment like that. If jeff loves boat racing as much as he says I'm sure he'll find a way to back into it if he hasn't already ??? |
Well did anyone ever get the details? jeff has to win an offshore only award here for jumping into conversations in a way thats like throwing 5 gallons of gas on a campfire! anyone remember the famous keywest one? then there was the attempt at a reality show complete with stripper pole in the living room its still on you tube i think. the guy certainly did make us read every page when ever he got on here!anyone know what jeff is up to now? the orginal paint scheme was one that just looked great in pics and on the water i think i would vote it one of the best. i think he proved if you run anything to hard it will break but it sure was great to read about and he had a way of firing up the message boards, i miss that guy!
|
I agree, come on you guys! What ever happened with all of this drama? JBS, audacity, speak out! Dont tell me you've just gone off quietly into the night
|
Kind of moot points now that the JBS boat is no longer as it was, and I think they are both on hiatus from the sport, right?
Not defending, just stating facts. JBS & Joe threads were always entertaining. But there is new stuff to entertain us now. |
I know, just bored with cold weather and wanting closure on the exploding turbine issue
