No surprise. That rumor has been circulating for awhile now.

Can you blame Shogren, its a smart business stratetgy. Who would pay out close to 400k for a new 42 lightning, when you can buy repo's or new..er 08's for close to half that.

Plus, I would think the new group wanted them to stock some inventory and they wouldn't commit in this economy. Cash is king.

Sad to hear though, I am a big fan of Shogren and fountain...

No surprise really. Its the same as when Baja was sold to Fountain. Hawkeye, Bajas #1 dealer dropped them instantly. They lost some others as well.

I'm a little confused. If custom boats are more popular, or are the majority of new boat sales currently, why would you go through a dealer to purchase one? Don't most of these companies sell direct to and design the boat with the buyer?

There's wayyy more to this story, and hopefully one day Scott will enlighten us all on his decision.

Nomatter how you look at his decision, one thing we all have to agree on, is that Scott Shogren is a business man, and a VERY smart one at that. We will continue to see Scott dominate the field in his new adventure, and again land on top of the game.

Congrats to Shogren and his team.

You generally have to do the "sale" through a dealer, even if you work directly with the factory on 99% of the boat.

MTI's "usually" go through Pier 57. Cigarettes go through Pier 57, Lipship, etc. Skaters typically go through Bullock Marine, Scot Conrad, Lake Cumberland, Blume sells a few, etc. Nortechs usually went through Fastboats.com.

Reggie likes his last name to much to not include it in his new boat (if that is what he decides to do) My guess is he will call it the "Water Fountain"
thinking about it, that way we can all drink the coolaid from the tap
LOL I crack me up LOL

In seriousness
Shogren is one of the best in the insustry! I am sure they have not only a good reason for this desicion, but the correct reason

If Reggie Fountain were to build a new boat would he splash the beak hull or start over with a totally new hull ?
I'm guessing he no longer owns the beak hull design so a new hull exactly the same but beakless would be the plan.
