Gotcha!!
me being from Chicago and i know not to have water in your block or hoses so they can freeze..I read in the dealers comments that frozen water in hoses were a concern,,why didn't he drain the water in the engines for the transport home?? i know engines will freeze especially when transported..
i was thinkin the same thing

We didn't winterize because customer took right from trailer to the boat slip. I don't think anyone expected temperature to drop that quick and customer was planning to go boating.
What we are really looking for here is information on the totaled/salvage claim from 2003. If anyone has any information or pictures it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Thank you for posting these pics. I don't see the 38EC in question in here. The previous owner called today because he heard about the thread and would like to now as well if any members on this board can find anything.
Chad's boat is nice and hopefully up and running soon. It would a shame if after all this the boat was never totaled or salvaged as claimed.
This board is full of knowledge and odd that there are n post to the claim.
If any of you can find anything, please let Chad and I know.
Thank you in advance.

In reference to the boats past salvage history i notice somewhere in the thread that the boat was purchased in 07 on LOTO as a salvage? I wonder if it was involved the the ice/snow storm in 06? Sale date of 07 salvage would coincide with about when insurance companies would be settling and releasing boats i would think. Heres a link to one of the threads and a few pic albums of damage. Might get lucky and find a pic in there somewhere.

Scott,
Looks to me like you guys are doing everything you can to make this right for everyone. Next time I'm buying, I wouldn't hesitate to give you a call.

I want to thank a board member for calling me this AM to give me input on getting information for salvage/totaled boats.
If any of you have a question about a boat you want to buy you can go to www.iamimarine.org, type in contact us and then pursue what questions you have.
We hope that we can get info and provide Chad info on his 38EC by Tuesday.
Thank you to the board member for providing this info.

The boat was delivered with fried impellers back in Oct. They were replaced. I boated a few days. I hit rocks and was able to cruise back to dock 8 miles with no issue. It went back to dealer for rock hitting repairs then. They said impellers were fried. They installed new ones again. They redelivered this Spring. Within less than a mile, i have a boat full of smoke. I thought ac unit since i had no alarms and normal gauge readings. I limped into dock on one engine. 2 weeks go by and I start it and pull away from docks. It overheats again. So i investigate but still i have 15 psi. It sinks partially after i returned luckily to slip. A different dealer saves it from sinking further and raises it. They tow it to their place and pull the impellers. They say the impeller is intact but theres old rubber pieces blocking the outlet. I'm thinking enough water passed to give me pressure but couldnt cool it ? I don't know but the whole impeller story is right here.
i believe Parker had some probs as well cost him in excess of 30K ,see ya at party cove

Due to doubt trying to be put into this I need to make another comment. I guess it is circumstantial but : The original owner had service done to this boat September 2, 2004. It was supposedly totaled September 18, 2004. 16 days after last record of service. In July 2005 this guy goes to same dealer and orders a brand new 2006 Fountain 38 EC. Same boat but new. However the thing is, he bought with NO trade in. Fairly obvious. Now if he'd just answer the phone, I might know for sure.

A couple of weeks ago I asked the title company doing the transfer for the bank on a boat I was selling about this issue . She did not know of a way to search a title on a boat for damages . Explained that it's not like a auto title where it is documented in the paperwork . Great to have this link to check out , we should have something like a carfax product for boats .
