Good one Johny, but you are closer than you think. I built 2 lowers literally out of spare parts this winter :o) That and new finned top caps that took a lot of shimming, you never know. We shall find out tomorrow. Need to go easy on the new mills a while though so you might want to get along side me now with that AT. :lolhit:

excalibur82 06-04-2011 06:27 AM

Yo ,Instagator how are you making out with that 90 mph mark? We have not heard from ya in a while so i'm going to say more like 75-80.See ya on the water.

Baja555 06-04-2011 06:28 AM

yeah right

ita1iansta11ion1 06-08-2011 12:19 PM

84 on gps, wrong prop, engine breaking in.

excalibur82 06-10-2011 07:10 AM

Hey Instagater, hope you checked that carb cause you will wash down your rings quickly. Why your engine builder would re-jet your carb after dynoing engine is beyond me. You were loading up BAD when you passed my house.

ita1iansta11ion1 06-11-2011 06:04 PM

leaned the idle out some and its runnin great. went with the next jet size up just to be on the safe side after reading plugs. hopefully soon i will be making an onboard video of a top speed run after propping for 6K when trimmed up. im trying to cut down the 20-30% prop slip that i have rite now.

ita1iansta11ion1 06-11-2011 06:07 PM

i dont think i was rich enough to wash the rings. i burned 1qt of oil in the first 5 hours due to break in and now im burning no oil. it may have been a combo of that and just a rich idle that day. im runnin total seal piston rings and custom pistons with teflon coated skirts, will that make a difference for wash down?

Smarty 06-11-2011 07:16 PM

So who has ran who on Barnegat Bay this suymmer in this single engine dealio? Who is the top dig thus far, who's fast?

wow.. 84 mph with 30% prop slip.....lol

ita1iansta11ion1 06-12-2011 04:10 PM

ok 20-30% slip does not mean 30% slip at 84 mph. im gettin around 30% prop slip at cruise currently turnin a 25p 4 blade 6k rpm at 80 mph (18% slip) and i still have throttle left.

scarab63 06-12-2011 05:18 PM

Hope your second motor is almost ready for the dyno and install.
6 grand and still breaking her in !?!?!?

Yowza!!! Did this originally get built for a formula one race car !
:lolhit:
J/K --LOL

ita1iansta11ion1 06-12-2011 06:08 PM

lol its a little high strung. actually i used a brand new style of valve springs and retainers that brought the rpm band up. the motor was pulled to 6400 on the dyno before install with no problem.

once you get that prop to hook up you will kiss your drive good bye.

excalibur82 06-12-2011 07:33 PM

Your not going to blow that drive up. It's a pretty light boat
your fine i had alot more power with a stock bravo and lasted a long time. I 'm guessing it is a revolution 4 blade and if that is the case it is bigger than a 25 more like a 26.5 or so.A bravo one is alittle smaller than advertised but your prop is alittle more. So your slip is not as high as you think. It's more like 13or so at 6 grand if that is the correct speed you are doing. If your motor makes power to 6400 why would you not hold it wide open to see what it's got. If it did it on the dyno and danny built it that way then why not spin it that high.I would try a 28 bravo 0ne that might be the ticket if what
you said is correct

excalibur82 06-12-2011 07:38 PM

And another thing 6400 stock crank stock rods I don't know how long that will last. This is not raceway park.I would see where it made the most torque and go from there.Just my 2 cents.

Not me I got a blown up junker now. I might be getting a stock 454 for now but it still will be a billion mph boat so look out all :lolhit:

excalibur82 06-12-2011 07:56 PM

Eric i'll give you one of my 177 blowers and will put the small pulleys on it and see what happens.lol

ita1iansta11ion1 06-13-2011 09:20 AM

thanks guys for all the info. i would like to try a 28p bravo I and a 29p mirage plus b/c i herd the older fountains may work better with a 3blade? i made peak torque at 5100-5300 645tq 650hp. at 6300-6400 700hp 585tq. at 6000 692hp 605tq. so by playing it safe at 6k im only down 8hp but up 20tq. balanced and polished stock forged gm crank with scat forged h-beam rods so i think im good to go. we built a 510 with good hp and a little less torque b/c the boat isnt that heavy and i didnt want to have problems with the drive. 700hp in basically a 24footer on the barnegat = not running 6k that often.

scarabman 07-29-2011 07:15 AM

Any updates? Seems like the smack talking died an untimely death. Not that I have been out all that much but I have yet to see any singles TEARING up the bay. I did see a Phantom a week or so ago that I have not seen in the area. He was looking for a run but I had my 5 and 8 yr olds on the boat so thats a no go.

excalibur82 07-29-2011 08:42 AM

Yeah I agree on that....What was the speeds of that killer lol.Im sure he foundout what it is like to run 80 or so in a 24 ft bottom.........

scarabman 07-29-2011 12:59 PM

How bout youre buddy crapr6? Is his boat blue? I saw an all/mostly blue excalibur coming out past Drum Point Marina a couple weeks ago when I was fueling up.

Heard about that boat from Wazzup race engines..I have no idea who owns that boat...

C_Spray 07-29-2011 02:59 PM

We'll be over there on August 6 for the NJPPC Roar at the Shore Poker Run if anyone wants to step up and play...

If it is the chalanger from watsup it has 800 plus don't mess with that boat.
RICH

ita1iansta11ion1 08-01-2011 12:59 PM

whell i will agree that i dont have the experience to push my boat to its limits. i can get it up to 80 in the calm. in the rough its in the air more than its in the water. the engine shop has had it to 84 with more to go. i need to get better with the trim and steering first. most of the time im out with my friends and theyre usually yelling to slow down anyway. it definitely gets loose on the top end. i put 3x 40lb sand bags in the bow which helped some. over the winter i will be relocating the batteries to the cabin, installing longer trim tabs and throwin on a lab finished prop. so we will see where that takes me. but i am always up for a challenge!

this one was mostly yellow, as I recall, with some pinkish/purple in it with what looked like a 3 across bolster setup for seating? My buddy, in his 30 yr old 24 outlaw decided to try and give him a run but it was no match:drink:

Philm 08-02-2011 06:35 AM

Havent seen him yet on the Chesapeake, but feel free to pull up alongside. :drink:

That is because most of the "killers" are really "duds"..The guess-o-meter was way off on the mph now that we all have our boats in the water and running. :party-smiley-004:
