y? dont think it will go 90? it was a 75 mph boat with a little under 500hp. another 200hp wont get it there?

My 27 Fountain with a single step has a 540 ci, 700+ HP, 28" labbed Bravo 1 has done 85.8 mph on the GPS.

I have a new prop to try this year. 29" labbed Cutting Edge prop.
This prop has a little more diameter to cut down on slippage. Can't wait to try it out.

Per APBA measurements a 29 Fountain has a running surface of 26' 10".

Good luck Stallion!! More importantly be safe and yes a set of 380's mounted level will only help you.

My 29 with a stock sealed 500EFI will do 92.7 so you should be able to have a lot of fun.

We've sold both singles and twins. The singles have always been faster though.

GeeterB 04-29-2011 05:57 AM

I'd be willing to bet that JimV has spent countless hours getting to the speeds he achieves...and numerous set-up changes...so much more to it than just an extra 100 horsepower give or take:coolcowboy:
I'm not throwing water on your campfire, just pointing out the boat your comparing yours to is not just another boat with more hp...much more to the story

mapism 04-29-2011 06:03 AM

I don't disagree at all with all the warnings given so far, but what the OP is aiming at is indeed feasible.
And yes, with a NA engine, a non stepped 27 Fever, and a Bravo drive.

PS: ooops, sorry, I posted this before seeing that the thread had more than one page, and didn't realise it has already been posted...

Many boats are however much shorter than a classic flat transom (no molded in platform) hull measured the old way. The Fountain "beak" is one commonly complained about example - but it's at the bow. Molded in swim platforms - except for certain Four Winns models - add nothing to the running surface at the stern - where it matters most.

I understand the concept of LOA with or without a "beak" or "molded in swim platforms"...and if your 22' Progression had a "beak" and "molded platform" it would still only be about 2' long at speed - because that's all that's in the water at speed...which is exactly my point. :drink::drink::drink:

I am currently having a fresh custom 510ci N.A. motor being built at Bandit Performance Marine (Formerly Kurt's Marine) on Mantoloking Rd. in Brick, NJ. I cant say enough times how helpful, friendly and informative they have been. Not sure of the H.P. until im on the dyno but im crossing my fingers for 90MPH. Looking for a quick race just for fun or a small wager. I will accept fair twin engine competition also. Im usually blasting around the bay in between the Seaside and Mantoloking bridges. Thanks guys, The Instagator.

welcome...whats your name and where abouts are ya from ? i've also got a single engine 27 (kryptonite) with a stock 500 efi which runs a touch over 80. i will be using her as a bay bomber and hopefully racing class 5 with the OPA as well. dont go north of the mantoloking bridge much, usually spend most of the time from Kettle Creek n south to Manahawkin. i'm very good friends with Danny, Drew, and the rest of the crew over at Bandit Racing and you've motors in good hands. Danny is the man when it comes to building solid "reliable" power. here's a pic of her in her current trim, however she's going to be getting completely DE-vinyled shortly.

ummmm no. Mine is and always has been a single.

By all means it is not a normal 29 Fever. It is a F1 race version. Yes some pleasures did come with twins, but I am pretty sure more singles in recent years were produced.

Fast Shafts 04-29-2011 01:55 PM

TED, the "P" was dropped years ago, its Class 5 now:drink:.

I appreciate that but we are fine just doing Solomon's and I will actually get to finish being President at some point, we are gonna keep Mikey as Race Director forever :lolhit:

Your 29' is a new step-bottom, not an older straight V?

The 27' Fountain that this thread is about is a straight V.

I was not aware they came with singles. I looked at one before I bought my current Boat and it had twins. I assumed they all were built that way. That's what I get for assuming..

The F1 race version? I guess would explain the "above normal speed" for a boat with that power. What is different? Weight I would imagine for one thing..

sunsation96 04-29-2011 03:28 PM

There was a 32' single sunsation running in the low 90's with a ton of HP.

ActiveFun 04-29-2011 03:43 PM

Its another Pit Bull lol

weight is 4600 dry and it has no cabin. Bottom has been blue printed 3 times and some other misc stuff

pics of it are at www.tntoffshore.com in the multimedia section 2009 and prior

I thought someone had an old 90s skater with a KE engine and a single 6 drive around there.......the boat was a yellow cat.

Absolutely Greig!! Looking forward to it. I know its early, but when are you planning on being down?

excalibur82 05-10-2011 07:22 PM

Dude this has got to be your first speed boat...Your already saying how fast your going to be. Okay your Motor dynoed 700hp get it in the boat and see what it runs. Every buddy says there boat runs faster than it does..It takes time to dial it in with the right prop. I bet money that the 502 you had in it with the aluminum heads and the single plane intake with an 850 and headers made more than 500hp more like 550 or more. so get it in and see what it runs......Just sayin

pacalim1965@yaho 05-10-2011 07:46 PM

I feel like trailering my Baja up there this summer, sounds fun and competitive.

crapr6 05-10-2011 09:17 PM

All I got to say is come summer time its game over for all you single engine boats and even some twin engine boats (robert) in the barnegat bay! :party-smiley-004:

jerryskid 05-10-2011 09:31 PM

pandemonium

ding ding..........let the games begin

Didnt he say earlier he was just talking smack trying to get a little fun rivalry going? Seeing as how I am right in that area, I have found this thread to be mildly entertaining and interesting to to see who chirps in.
