This a great thread. Nothing with a bit of good hearted ribbin'. I wish the OP the best with the project. It will take a bunch of testing to get the last bit of performance out of the boat.

Darrell.

There's a serious group of single-engine Kryptonites/Jokers/others that hang at the Chesapeake Inn if you want to trailer over to the big water.

Blue Thunder's Scarab is part of this group. (If you allow a second engine...)

blue thunder 05-12-2011 10:30 AM

I really only joined the thread for the smack talkin. :lolhit:

excalibur82 05-12-2011 07:04 PM

Here is my excalibur that i sold last year to Jerry.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy0-VrTTk1Y THAT BOAT RUNS MID 80'S ALL DAY LONG.I'm setting up my fountain now with bravo's. Going pretty high with the x dimension and try running a set of 5 blades.I am putting a set of 177 blowers on my 454's so i'm shooting for high eighty's with it this year possible break 90 mark. The boat it pretty light really has no cabin. I guess we will see.

C_Spray 05-12-2011 09:45 PM

Beautiful excal! I run the 177s and raised props 2" plus ground out some hook. It runs in the ninties typically. Suprises a lot of folks for sure which is quite fun.

That batboat is just sick chuck.

excalibur82 05-13-2011 07:05 AM

Here is one more of it .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSSG-..._order&list=UL . What did you set your x dimension at?The bottom of my boat now is straight as an arrow. The guy who had it before me painted the whole boat even the bottom.

4.5" prop shaft depth.

excalibur82 05-13-2011 09:31 AM

What kind of boost and what is your comp at? I'm at 9.1,i know everyone says 8.5 or lower but my buddy tells me no problem.

blue thunder 05-13-2011 10:06 AM

9.5:1 w/ alum heads. These small blowers on a bbc work very well with higher static compression. I typically run 5psi with hyper pistons. This winter I changed to forged pistons so I will run my 6.2psi pulleys after the engines are broken in.

Don't you mean "another" one?

I'm not planning to break ANYTHING:

ita1iansta11ion1 05-14-2011 12:52 PM

Dude this has got to be your first speed boat...Your already saying how fast your going to be. Okay your Motor dynoed 700hp get it in the boat and see what it runs.

i have been on the water all my life but it is my first speed boat, btw im only 28.

I bet money that the 502 you had in it with the aluminum heads and the single plane intake with an 850 and headers made more than 500hp more like 550 or more. so get it in and see what it runs......Just sayin

rob, that motor barely lasted a week.

excalibur82 05-27-2011 08:16 AM

So its the big weekend?????? Any one want to play?
