Whats up with the head liner? Looks nice otherwise

TexomaPowerboater 09-06-2011 01:18 PM

Triple engines should last much longer before rebuild, same with the drives. Either way lots of coin.

They fall on the older ones....

My 382 had the same problem. Bad foam backing.

Formula provided new material gratis, but labor was expensive, as I recall.

I re-did my 382, and have some material left over, if anyone buys this boat. The job is somewhat time-consuming, but you can get the panels out and back in with some effort.

Engines were all that you had a clear emphasis on earlier. This boat has the high flow Mercruiser manifolds on it and not the CMI headers. You can look at it however you choose to look at it. It doesn't need all that work done to it. I know figures can vary from place to place. I can certainly get a quality job done for far less than $50k if all that ever needed to be rebuilt.

That's what it appeared to be. I have an upholstery guy that said he could fix it. Only problem is that his current shop is not large enough to fit it in there. He could do it outside I suppose.

Actually, I said motors and headers, and I've always done the drives when doing the motors.

And yes, you could probably get by with just doing the top ends on the motors, and run the drives until they pop.

Just trying to help some poor sole get an idea of the REAL cost of performance boating. For me, at least, the cost was NEVER less than what I estimated. On the Formula, I never imagined that I'd have to replace the headers, buy new drives, rebuild engines, install new headliner, etc, but I did.
