nor-tech or outerlimits
I am wanting to upgrade in a few months to a faster boat. I am wanting to get to about 115 or 120 MPH. what would be the best buy?
|
To go fast in a big vee bottom there's really only one choice. Feel free to PM me or give me a call at the Outerlimits Factory.

36' cat with 700s.
|
Cat or Vee?
|
Outerlimits
|
Cats 40 or 46 Skater, vees Saber 41, OL, CIG ps go to the saber site there 41 is awesome. but a 46 skater is hard to beat in any water.there just hugh.
|
36 Skater w/Mercury 500 efi's - 6 drives!
|
Outerlimits, no question, hands down...
|
Go for a test ride on both and then you make your choice.
Thats what I did and ended up with a 39 Nor-Tech. Just diffrent boats, what ever way you go you can't go wrong. |
Just checked the classifieds.. If your interested in a used OL or NT, there's seems to be plenty of makes/models for sale.. Alot of them have been in there all year for sale....

Cat will be much faster with equal power. I'd probably go Nor-Tech.....but both boats are nice. As mentioned, ride in both in same water conditions.
|
I dont really know of any Nor-Tech vee's that can run 115-120 let alone handle as well as an Outerlimits. The Carbon Epoxy boat will last longer and hold together better over time. Nor-Tech does build a very nice boat but usually heavier and much slower. Ive run 51 Outerlimits at 115 in rough water and wasnt getting beat up at all. Going fast in any type of rough water in any boat and your going to get beat a little bit.

Some good 6ft rollers with chop on top. In fact the owner had a 47 Apache and he was tired of the boat falling apart so he went back to an Outerlimits. He'll tell you the Outerlimits is a better riding and running boat.

He didnt pay a million for a used 51. They could be all here after repairs. You think of that? Or how much were they really run?

with same power will be faster. But I drove a OL GTX and didn't like the ride of a epoxy boat. But that is just me. Great looking just a harder and stiffer ride. |

Mac went from a cig to a ol an then back to a cig. Its all about the ride.
|
If its ride or speed ..The Statement ride is second to None.
Statement Statement ride is second to None!!!! |
I would throw Sunsation in the mix, a 36' with 700's will run 115mph all day in any water. Also won't run you half a mil to get in.

Second. The 115 mph number is with light load and great conditions. That is not 115 all day. That is 108-110 all day. Load it up with 4-5 ppl, gear, food, drink and whatever stuff we for some odd reason have in our boats, and you'll never see 115 from it. I'd do the SV43 or SL44. Why? Because I like OL more than NT and I think they look cool. I've never been in a NT or the 43 or 44. It's a question about what you personally like and taste is just that, personal. |
The all new 38 Hypersonic
Length 39.6'
Beam 8.7' Fuel 230 Gallons Twin 700's 110+ Headroom 6.1" Ask any Sonic Owner how she rides. Retail: $386,828 - I have to admit, my opinion is a lil bias. :) But your more than welcome to come to the factory to see her. She is one bad mofo. 38 Hypersonic http://www.sonicusaboats.com/shop/sk...mages/logo.png |
Ralph's brother knows a guy that traded his Cig for an Apache and he knows someone with an OL, but his buddy has a friend with a NT. The Cig is a better boat than the Hustler that Joe's buddy has because only the Sunsation had cup holders that are good for **** in the 6' seas, but Mary doesn't like the ride of the Cig her friend has, so obviously the NT is a better boat. Although, my cousin said your buddy's NT will never run the 105 your uncle's brother said it would, in 10-12' seas, although he said Kevin's Pantera will, because he saw it on YouTube. He also said Apache's are over rated and he saw it in a magazine so it must be true. Anyway, getting back to Kenny, he traded back to the Cig after Julie fell out of the Apache in rough conditions. Heather said the Cig was a POS, but I heard from someone else the OL ran better than the Sonic Ron's buddy bought, altough Sam claims his grandfather ran their Sutphen in 50' seas, but it would only top out at 82 mph.. Amy claims that the Sonic or the AT will run circles around Billy's Fountain, which should be no surprise to anyone...
At the end of the day the boat that you can mooch on and claim your own is the best boat in any conditions.... So clearly the OL is the better boat... because Dan told me so!!! :drink: |
Sorry Dan, the door was open! :D

new or used?

I've rode/drove in a 44SL and it's an amazing boat.
I've never been in a Nor-tech. Dealer at LOTO is selling 39 Hustler now, it appears to be a nice boat. I'm told it runs great and handles the rough water. Are you buying new our used? |

This statement SHOULD end this thread..... Hahaha, I try not to get involved in the comparison threads much these days, but when I see Outerlimits in the mix, its ALWAYS entertaining. Im not sure what Dan has accomplished for the Outerlimits line, but I'd vote him in for salesmen of the year for sure! BTW, he has gotten top salesperson for Sutphen for a few years before this. They were the best for awhile, but I think hes now sticking with Outerlimits......til his dad buys a Skater. |
