C-Spray or others,
I have a 400 with 525s. I take it you have been in or around 400s with both 525s and the Ilmors. Any thoughts on the differences other than pure power. Fuel consumption? Noise? Everyday useability? Maintenance? 62-63 mph seems fine until threads like this pop up!
Thanks,
Jim

I've been on 400's with 502 Mags, 525's and Volvo Penta 370 diesels. All have their advantages/disadvantages, but my personal preference is the diesels (now rated at 400 hp). I think they provide the best low-end acceleration and by far the best fuel economy. They are considerably heavier, but last far longer, come with VERY robust drives and will still push the boat close to 50 mph. (And they are dead quiet.)

That being said, I would love to ride on an Ilmor 725 400...

In the meantime, BoilerDaddy owes us more rigging shots of the 382. :party-smiley-004:

Less drag and significantly better positioned to lessen any chine walking at higher speeds. You do need to run a lot more degree downward to push the bow down, however. Overall a much better application, particularly as the hull speeds go up.

Well, Chuck, you always get your way...but I don't believe I can post pictures on this forum. Check out our Facebook page! The plant was already dark, but you'll get the picture, so to speak. Engines bolted in this morning and deck put on this afternoon.

I see the notches are there so the owner can put chargers on the Ilmor's. :lolhit: :lolhit: :lolhit: :party-smiley-004:

Yea. I just figured that little thing might be covered up or something different in regard to the power change.

Unless that little notch was a benefit to me some how I would cosmetic up that spot.

If your serious or sarcastic you still made me laugh either way! :lolhit:

Fan of Formula or not, Ilmors stuffed in this boat looks amazing! Glad to see more of these bad boys getting rigged...looking forward to seeing the 400ss this summer in person, along with Wrinkles new 477! :drink:
