Naah, just an another "outdated" innovative Formula design from the old Merc 700 SCI/NXT era ...:D

Even with these engines mounted way up as they appear to be, it looks like the original tooling would have been just fine. However; Aquaforce's suggestion of blowers does carry a certain appeal... :party-smiley-004:

I wonder which way they are spinning props. What is the "norm" for this model?

Formula always spins them out, we had to talk them into spinning them in, should have a nice rooster tail.

Yea. I just figured that little thing might be covered up or something different in regard to the power change.

Unless that little notch was a benefit to me some how I would cosmetic up that spot.

The air intake on the Ilmor is in the rear of the engine. The vents are directly above the air filter. The vents improve accsess to the air filters also.

Fred, if you want to try reversing the rotation to spin out, swapping Ilmor drives side-to-side is a pretty simple process.

It was interesting to see that Formula paints the deck before they install it. Make sense.

By the way: As you may have guessed, we're all pretty excited for you. Looks like the boat will be running soon.

Factory set-up on a 382 is with spinning props out. The previous owner of my 382 with bravo drives on Stellings boxes changed drives to spinning in. I like the way it carries the nose and it seems to have a flatter wake than other 382's I have been on. Although it takes a little more patience to manuver in tight low-speed manuvering and windy conditions, I like it and have retained the inward set-up.
