I get 2-2.5mpg at 38mph depending on the load and conditions, if you get more than 1 mpg you can quote it that way if its less than you usually say GPH at xx MPH or knots

The main reason to love outboards, especially on a 28 Skater......with 300XS I burn 30gals hr @ 90mph according to the SC 5000 computer.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

MisterFiberglass, based on your serious concern about fuel consumption and your comments about not wanting to carry insurance in the Skater forum... this really isn't the sport/hobby for you!

I think you mean per motor so your really burning 60 gph at 90mph which is 1.5 mpg at wot which is still fantastic.

Top speed is 180 GPH... So 1 gallon every 20 seconds...

We don't stay there long...as you can see.

I got the same economy at 90mph with my 28 Daytona with twin 496's, I only got 2 mpg at cruise though I think the outboards are better at 60mph

What's cruising? That sounds like something my Grandpa would do. My throttle has two positions, up and down. My engine builder told he was going to remove my throttle and replace it with a switch. I told him no, I wouldn't have anything to hang my hat on.
