The phantom can reach that with minor changes, and the hull can handle the speed no issue.

Simple fact is that the boat has not run in like 4 years now so who knows what could be wrong with it

Dennis had both sets of engines built/rebuilt and yes they were swapped. Like I said, these were completely gone through, I have the photos etc from the rebuild of these engines and I believe they were done right. There should be nothing wrong with the engines, although I suppose there could be some gum in the carbs, etc. from sitting.

Both boats were donated and the charity will not let the boats out on the water w/o insurance... I can't blame them for that and Peter shouldn't be the one to have to pay for it. Reflecting on this, it;s a good way of weeding out tire kickers... If you're serious (and I don't think you are based on the number of times you've posted about looking for a boat), put a refundable deposit on the boat with a clause that final payment is pending on a successful sea trial. You get the insurance and and take the boat out or pay them for the brief insurance coverage (which shouldn't cost that much if you have to do that). It's not a big deal compared to the cost of ownership!

While the seller (the charity) should ideally have insurance on the boat they are trying to sell, this should not be a show stopper if you are serious about the boat. Even if you have to pay $800 for the insurance, that's only a couple of afternoons worth of fuel and a small price to pay on a nice turnkey boat at a great price.

Concentrate on buying one that's in one piece and runs. Worry about speed later.

I sent you a text, but in a nutshell Peter is overseeing the boats and is looking out for whatever is best for the charity. If he thinks they are better off parting the boat(s) out, he will do so.

For my Phantom to go 105 mph, bigger intake, drop the silent choice, bigger cam, bigger injectors/more fuel pressure, bigger props (are 34" labbed Bravos), or spin more rpm with the engine modifcations (boat turns 5000rpm@90mph). Motors are 540 cu.in. Darts Mercury 502/415 EFI top end (built and dynoed by Innovation Marine). Only 650 cfm intake, needs to breath more.

An that could all happen at about 75K for the boat to go 105mph and be sold, that is not a firm quote, since I would not do the engine work.

Just a suggestion..
