I've had tons of interest in my boat for sale. Its priced just right. Your baja friends might not think its priced right........The guys driving cigarettes and skaters think its priced more than fair.
Physics? Do you know what torque steer is? Thats the problem with all big single engine boats..........torque steer. In general, most of the 28ft+ boats with single 500+hp are also plagued with out drive problems on a regular basis.........especially in rough water use......... which may be why OL and merc are rumored to not be getting along. Don't believe me go look at all the big powerd sabers, panteras, activators, etc. Their always fighting drive problems.......which makes for an unreliable boat IMO. I may be entirely wrong seeing that it doesn't appear to be a 29ft boat at all. I'm just throwing out words of caution. This boat could certainly be lightened enough to eliminate drive concerns and maximize speed by going to a bare bones cabin and super light layup, but really, at that point your much better off going with a 28 skater or the like. I don't have any problem with ya'll drinking the koolaid but I'm not going to be forcefed the utter BS coming out of the three plus threads on this boat just cause it has an OL on the side. I mean chit guys, you act like you never seen a bustle on the stern of a boat before..........OL puts one on a 28 to call it a 29 and you guys run around pretending its a revolutionary design. This boat isn't any more or less revolutionary than the deck design of the failed adrenaline 30 or the steps of the new 38 HyperSonic. Did I hear 90mph with the 525? If so this boat doesn't even match up to a superboat Y2K IMO, the superboat is two feet longer, has a useable cabin, and will run close to the same speeds with a 525, while costing the buyer almost half as much. The 29 warlock will run 100mph with 525 and cost half as much. So whats left? The shiny bezels and chrome? The paint job and colors that makes the entire boat useless in warm climates? Not for $100K over the competition......... |
From the pics all I can say is WOW thing looks awesome, not a huge fan on the color but eveything else looks way cool. I'm a big fan of a sit down boat, the speeds claimed are very impressive, I'd love to run mid 90's - 100 mph sit down 29' single that can handle as well as I'm sure this will all the while on a single! Only thing I'd change would be color!!!! 3 thumbs up!!! Love it!!!!
|
Gawd...the more pics that come out on this boat the more I love it, that's one sharp looking boat. Might even sway me to go back to a single...if I could ever afford it LOL!!
|
Love orange, but for some reason these colors aren't working for me, do like the boat though.
Can you please get a pic from standing on the bustle facing forward, I'd like to see from that angle too :) |
Reminds me of a Ferrari on the water....

A black bilge? To hide the oil no doubt............
Bilge looks really cramped for a single engine 28ft boat........... I can't remember the last time I saw a trim pump so close to the engine. I don't mean to toot my own horn so much, but I can actually sit down on the floor of the bilge in front of my twin 502's. Is there a transmission in there? I thought this boat ran 90 with a 525? Looks like a 600sc to me. The helm is poorly styled and looks like it was pulled right off an arcade machine. Good thing they used a big screen, I doubt they could of ever fit all the gauges on there without it. Looks damn near impossible to add anything else. As it is, it appears your going to have to look around the steering wheel to see two of the gauges. |

Here's a dyno graph of 2 brand new motors. One being the 525, other being the 600sci. The only change to either is the rev limit is changed to 5850. Stock everything else.
thanks Rafe |
Texoma, Enjoy what you have & don't b!tch about you'll never have. It just makes no sense. Is OL going to hire you to design their next boat? Nope. Will they change what they have already built based on your critiques? Nope.

The windscreen reminds me of a Nordic... Over all great looking boat and would love to see one race SVL in the near future.

That is the best looking single V period. I would love to own one and think that they built the boat most single engine guys always wanted to see built.

So he's not entitled to an opinion? So are we suppose to like every single boat from every single manufacturer? If we don't we're not allowed to voice an opinion? Or is everyone suppose to love this boat because it's an OL? If this was in the OL forum I agree leave it alone but it's in general. I have stated my opinion on it as well but I "sugar-coated" mine a bit more. Tex may come off a little strong but he's brought up some good points.
Like the boat, don't like the boat. Just quit *****ing about it every time someone else says they like this or that.....or don't that seems to be the trend in here. |

Probably not, but I can tell you that the manufacturer should hear what the offshore community has to say about their new product ,good or bad. That is how you improve things when and if it might be applicable.

Dustin what is the gismo on the steering wheel?......volume control maybe?

one thing I have learned about OSO is that no one takes critism well...
however everyone has a right to there own opinion, period. does that mean everything should turn into a pissing contest? no. take the persons opinion for what it is and move on. instigators continue to fuel the fire here. my 0.02. |

As it is, it appears your going to have to look around the steering wheel to see two of the gauges. The panels remove on the sides to get better access if needed. The engine comparatment is a little tight, but hopefully, one should spend more time in the cockpit, which has tons of room, in fact more than some 40+ foot boats that I've come across. So if you have to sacrifice some room, to me, its the engine compartment. If one wanted to sit in front of the engine, the cockpit would have to move quite a bit forward which would throw the CG off. There's plenty of room to have access to the engine, you can change pulleys, fuel filters, spark plugs..... As for the view, I sat in the boat, and you can see every gauge with zero issues. I don't think you can tell the angle of the steering wheel to the gauges from an angled picture. As for the dash, there's plenty of room, what other gagues do you want there? Most new boats have a simplified dash, as all new motors have CAN based outputs that send all the data to the digitial dashes. The gauges are there for more a less nostalgia feel, but the digital dash has all you need, including navigation and IPOD/IPAD connection/on screen menus. |

real question is what is the key fob thing. everytime i seen it at the show the key fob was sitting on the dash. remote start? :evilb: |
I'm sorry my boat is better than any boat ever made and anything that might be better I will criticize because it's not

I would like to see OL make a 28 hull design that does it all including, but not limited to: 1) I'd like to see a cabin that is big enough for AC and portapotty and can sit 3-4 people. 2) I'd like to see a 28 hull design that is deep enough to be used in a sit down configuration or a stand up - whatever the customer wants. The option of drop down bolsters for the back seats would be nice because you could stand more people. 3) I'd like to see a 28 hull design capable of twin big blocks or single. 4) I'd like to see a 28 hull design capable of having an extended cockpit and carry up to 3 OB's. With any luck maybe have a spot for a generator to power the AC. 5) I'd like to see a 28 hull design with two different decks - one windshield, one with a fairing. For the obvious reason that no windshields are allowed on the race course. 6) I'd like to see a 28 hull design that can be an open center console or cabin boat. |

Tex, I dont think OL would ever have any intention of making such a 28.
If someone wants an OL w/ all of those ammeneties just get the 41. By keeping the 29 simple(one design), it will keep the costs down. And why would you like to see OL do all this? I know that pantera and saber could do almost all you are asking for already. Or you could easily see OL do all what you are asking for... just need some $ to order your fleet of them. |
I think it's a cool ride. Nice work. :coolcowboy:

Now, by no means am I calling the boat "ugly" it just isn't what I like. That doesn't mean I am right or wrong, that is just my opinion. If I were looking at a new 27-30 single I would look elsewhere, but that is again just my opinion. |
I just saw some pics of it in the water, were posted on FB. I know one thing, after seeing it in person and now in pics on the water I just don't care for the bustle/hatch/lines of the rear from the end of the windshield back. It drops off too fast, too round or something. The line of the deck needs to continue all the way to the stern IMHO. Overall its a pretty neat boat for the right application, kind of like owning a chopper vs a road king. Tex wants a road king, some guys want a stripped down hot rod, to each his own. To those of us that use a boat to sleep on and for more than a couple people blasting around the lake on a day trip it is a bit impractical. Performance wise, it sounds like fun.

In all fairness to Ol and all of the other manufacturers, it is unfair to critique a boat from your arm chair. The boat looks good, but you will never know how good or how bad it is untill you physically see it in person. I think its nice but I can already tell that its not for me. Would I reccomend it to a friend? If I was asked, I would reserve my comments untill I personally laid eyes on it and inspected it first hand. Only then, could I even start to critique a boat that I have never seen in person nor driven. The jury is still out, at least for me.
|
The Pics of the boat in the water do it a lot more justice then at the boat show. OL will build that boat any way you want it for the right price. I wonder if that 600 sci has stage 1, 2 or 3 from dustin already in it.
