Got My First Issue of Boating
#23
-Also got a free issue of Boating yesterday. Have not read one in quite a while and read it cover to cover. Not a bad mag but a bit too 'first grade' for ones who have been messing with boats for decades.
I'd like to see a magazine along the line of the old Performance Reports from Powerboat. Those were great!

I rarely saw any bad reviews. I like it when they tell it like it is. Also there were never any pics of the hull and bottom. The older magazines had these pics and they are important. Also, Powerboat had catered too much to Bob Teaque and pushing his products; Sometimes through misrepresentation. Anyway, I still miss it. I do like Boating mag and hope I get my free sub but I fully understand you guys being pissed for being tricked into subscribing to a magazine that you did not want. They should have offered refunds.

A class action suit would cost them and make the lawyers rich, I know this. I wouldn't want a penny really, just seem Bonnier should have to be held accountable...

Think about it for a moment. You're a builder. You're going to a Powerboat magazine test. Do you think, just maybe, you might prepare, maybe even go the extra mile to make sure everything is right? That is why we took pains to make the point, "that boat on that day."
And when you're getting boats from Skater, MTI, Cigarette, Outerlimits, etc. ... well, OK, you tell me: Which one "deserves" a bad review? The product we got was generally pretty good to great.
I've told this one sentence story before but I'll tell it again now: On the same day a reader called me and told me I was a whore for my review of one builder's model, the builder called Powerboat's publisher and canceled his ad schedule because I was "too hard" on his model. Comes with the job, not a complaint, but something to consider.
As for the rest, I won't comment. Accusations of "misrepresentation" are pretty strong, as well as pretty vague. Not interested in going there.
