The Tickfaw 200 is a must for anyone. It really is a blast with hundres of boats from all over the country. Lots of great stops an New Orleans right there.

The Tickfaw has always interested me. When is it this year? and since the forth of July is on a Wednesday, I wonder which weekend will better this year? The weekend before works for me but I would have to leave on July 5 and head home.
I really think the tickfaw would be a blast. Party with the Cajuns---

Lake Michigan! Crystal clear water, sand bottom, 30ft deep clearity, NO salt! You would have a great time boating between Traverse City, Charlevoix, Boyne city (boyne thunder poker run) etc. If its windy you have protection in East or West Grand Traverse bay, or lake charlevoix. Torch Lake is also near by with a great sand bar party.

At least look the area up on a map, very cool! http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Traver...chigan&t=h&z=9

Holland, Michigan. Put in at Lake Macatawa as it channels into Lake Michigan. It's not as far north as Traverse City (by 3 hrs) and actually made it as a boating desination in one of the Powerboat Magazine issues a couple years ago. The sandy beaches are the best in the country. On a nice weekend, hundreds of boats will anchor and beach against the dunes of Lake MI just south of Holland.

I see that there is a poker run on lake Cumberland June 23 - 24 2012. Can anyone tell me if that is a good one to come to? The poker run in Sept does not work for my schedule.

June is a relatively new event and still growing. Not bad, but almost none of the big hardware that comes out for the Sept. run will be there. I'd give it a few more years before making that a long distance destination event.

Tennessee river can't be that far from you? I rented a BEAUTIFUL 5 bedroom house with a 2 bedroom air conditioned boathouse with a full kitchen on the Tennessee river/lake Pickwick a few years ago, there was OUTSTANDING views, pier 57 was testing fountains out there, was a BLAST. The Ohio river near Marietta was a fun time too. We have alot of beautiful places to boat in Mi BUT it would be more than a weekend trip with all the distance, Smitty
