6's are for people who can't throttle and need the extra insurance

Or those that have big wallets like your buddy Scot

My motors are 540 tall decks with Dart heads and an 871 blower only running 3.5 pounds of boost so with all things considered they are somewhat mild and have room for more power. I will let you guys know how the swap goes. I have Ocean Performance doing the all the rigging on the motor and drive swap and these guys do it every day so I feel very confident. The only question I have is I wonder if my X dimension will change at all. I am okay if it drops an inch or so as the early twin steps Cigs had a pretty aggressive X dimmension. Stay tuned.
Yeah, I heard the same thing about the lower and speed loss. Some don't seem to loose anything while others do.

Sounds like a nice engine package. Zul did a dyno for me back in 2008. He actually dynoed another engine of mine back in 2005 as well. I had a great time hanging out with him for the day. Good guy!

4195,

Please keep the thread (OSO) informed with your experience when you make your drive upgrade(s). I am glad you started this thread, it has been very informative, and I do like hearing what results each boat owner (actual user experienced).

I have read this thread and many others about Bravo XZ and XR's with great interest. I'm in the same crappy Broken Bravo Boat (BBB). And one thing is for sure I will not be buying another Bravo drive.

I have a Lavey 29 Nuera single 500EFI hull weight 5500 pounds 185 hours on the clock and blown 2 drives. I have narrowed down my selection to in no particular order.

Bmax
Imco SCX4
Arneson Bravo coversion

Would love to have Waconda,Rik or someone from Imco tell me why I should choose there drive and how much it will cost and how long it will last behind my stock powered boat. I do like to pull tubes, wake boards, wake skates, and do full throttle runs. Is that to much to ask from a drive?

i had bmaxes on a 42 fountain with blown 557s 860hp and in 5years never broke a upper, just one prop shaft, so think the bmaxes hold up pretty well, if you use there lowers you will have to thin the skeg there thick and create alot of drag and now you can get 1.50 ratio which makes it even more better.

I made the switch to the Imco SCX's. I have a set of Zul's in a big heavy boat and so far so good! I did however have some paint flake off the drive which I am not to happy about but other then that it has been good. I have only run them for roughly 50 hours but I have been out in some big water a few times running at a good speed. For me I did not want to have to baby the drives it would have defeated the purpose of the boat. I am going to be doing another oil change on them so stay tuned. Also for me I went Imco for the ease of putting them on and resale. I talked to quite a few people and they all had said they felt that the boat would be more attractive to buyers with the Imco's vs staying Bravo or going another route.
