This is quite an unusual event, a twin-stepped boat rolling:lolhit:

I've read about many just doing a quick search. If you look at those boats that start with a C.., you'll find all the drivers that flip those boats are inexperienced and stupid. The boats have never been found to be at fault, ever. At least in the 4-5 I quickly looked up that had rolled and/or flipped over. Others that have flipped began with an F, and other letters as well. Very established boats, same design made for many years.

Just an observation.

However, while in pursuit of the race leader, the SNAV OSG boat spun out at the end of the opening lap to drop back into third. Also an outerlimits boat

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...ed-norway.html

This popped up when I googled, Outerlimits boat rolled or spin out....

These are realy agressive stepped raceboats, wich must be handlaed by care !!!!
By proffesional drivers and amateurs.

Very nice and fast boats, but has the search for speed gone on the behalf of safe handling????

This is not any diss of the brand Outerlimits, only what popped up on the google search :-)

There are of course other boat brands that has been rolling and spinning out, if pushed extreme or handled wrong as well

In case you guys have never seen a race I run a single 30' max speed 94MPH with a stock Merc. 525 and weight is 4750 lbs. Our x dem. is 1/2 inch below the bottom and we run WOT for 50 plus miles at a clip. We SPIN OUT ALL THE TIME. We push the boats past there limmits in the turns. No one in there right mind would turn on there pleasure boat like we do. We drag tabs in turns all the time. Sometimes we drag the outside tab only. This same boat is sold to pleasure boaters but normal people dont try and do what we do on the course. My guess is Mike was not out for a joy ride but pushing the boat and testing it. IMO its a good thing it happed to him. It shows that 100 MPH boats need respect. The worst thing that could happen is someone buy's any 100 MPH boat and believes just beacause its $200K and built with the best materials and the manufacture has a reputation for building great boats that they believe the boat is just going to fly and handel anything you throw at it. Now thats how you get killed. I have always said its crazy that anyone with a check book with no knowlage about boating can just buy a 180 MPH machine. Now if it goes that fast you have to show your friends and most boaters I know are also drinkers. Sorry about the rant. Please, please everyone show respect to the water you are boating in. just my 2cents
Randy

Thats my point, you realy need to know what you are doing when you are at the "limit". And even if you know what you are doing, **** happends when you push the limit

Best regards

This boat was new in Miami wasn't it? How is it out of Warranty already? Its only been 3 months of a 12 month warranty that Merc gives on a 600?

Perfectly said.
Sooooo....., we all want a boat that looks like a race boat, sounds like a race boat, runs like a race boat (often faster), handles like a race butttt...., w/a full factory warranty on everything and a sworn/notarized/documented statement/guarantee that it will never bite us.
That's the crap that ruins it for all of us. Won't be long that no matter what color your money or your experience you won't be able to buy anything that runs over 65.

That's why they're running the new Bayliner ads here now.

Millions made, Zero flipped or rolled. Only a Bayliner will do.

Hey--I almost rolled a Bayliner once. Had a big guy riding in the bow, and when I started to unwind from a turn, the boat didn't follow!
