How fast did they run with single 525 or 565? Thanks

Depending on set up and load 95-98 with a stock Mercury Racing 565. The 600SCI, stock, ran 101mph. I would guarantee the boat would run 80+ mph with a single 450R. It will be a very cool build and the boat should perform really well with the twin 300R's.

Beautiful boat! What is the highest top speed recorded with this hull using a single engine.

What ever happened to the 29' owner in England, I forget his name but he had really tweaked his 29 to some good numbers.

Peter, I seen him in Key west, still has the boat and still making all kinds of cool stuff. He was over for about a month I think.

He is pretty active on FB.

Now will it be 600k or 800k? Engine prices are known how much for a big bathtub with fancy paint

love the boat, hope they price them decent and sell 1000 of them!

Toffen 09-26-2020 06:28 AM

Hi,

Amazing boat. I beleive its approx USD 200K plus engines.

customer choice and keeps the price point down for an entry level buyer if the opportunity arises. I think the performance will be fine with the 300's in my opinion

speicher lane 09-26-2020 07:57 PM

Dozen bolts, a few connections and hoses and, of course, a bigger wallet you can have 450's swapped out in short order.

Probably runs pretty decent with the 300's compared to the single i/o....

But the 400R is not horribly expensive. IDK what the 450R costs. "Performance will be fine" is subjective. ;)

The 400R is "horribly" heavy compared to the 300R. That is why I went with twin 300's on my 2750 LaveyCraft vs the 400's.
Mine is a 90mph boat, and performance is fine, but 100+ mph sure would have been GREAT!!!!!

This Outer Limits SV29 should be close to 100mph, if not over by a few with 300's.

Michael

Indy 09-27-2020 07:23 AM

I would think the 300s would balance nicely and unless you're a fanatic about WOT speeds, 300s will push this boat plenty fast. Look forward to the performance numbers.

100 mph with 600 hp in a 29 foot vee? If OL can accomplish that then I'm all for the 300s.

Eddienel 09-27-2020 09:02 AM

Speed is great but I guess Im just getting older now and its not as important. Off shore handling to me would be more important. Especially seeing some of these video's of boats getting pounded in rough water doing 50mph. 100 mph is great but how often are you doing it? I dont have a go fast boat so im more talking out of spectator stand point. I do have a big water back ground on sail boats but that hardly makes me qualified to be an expert.

Looks like the props are turning in, I wonder which ratio lower units, who’s version 5 blade and pitch, asking for a friend. 😀

EXACTLY... I never seen where being the "Big Dog" (fastest) on a lake paid anymore than the next guy....140mph performance V still spends 95% of it's cruise time in 3K-4K rpm.

I think the new owner has a great boat.

LIQUID THUNDER 10-02-2020 05:55 PM

Any Updates?
I am sure it has been run by now, and not just put in the water for a photo, and put back on the trailer.

I hope we don't get the "owner does not care about top speed" props are set up for Family running with the kids.

Well, that is certainly not boating weather. Hope the weather clears up for you soon. Really looking forward to hear how she runs and handles with the outboards.

The last few weeks down here by the Gulf Coast was like that. The winds might have been a tad higher though. The Hurricanes are gone and the water level is back to normal. Temps in the 70's with lots of sunshine!!! Time to go boating again.

Well that example is a cat so not really a fair comparison. If this OL can hit even 90 with the 300Rs then that would be pretty awesome and definitely in the thrill zone!

Man I totally didnt even think about that. Good catch. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I agree, very nice boat. And always someone out there with more so to speak.
BUT from my perspective when you have a 90 MPH boat your cruise is maybe 60, if you have a 140 MPH boat then your cruise is maybe 100.
So even though you aren't wide open all the time. You're now able to achieve a faster cruise if you want.

Great point!!! Bravo!!! Now I just need to hit that lottery. “Hey! Let’s go for nice 100 mph cruise.” “Sure! Let me fix a drink first.”

On a side note. I can’t wait to see what this boat cruises at.

Balance I would think is the key as well. The 450’s at a minimum are 177 lbs. heavier each, at 689lbs. 700 lbs. for the 450 sport master as per mercury which in that case adds 376lbs. of additional weight hanging off the back. With a cats/ air entrapment, the ability to carry the weight should be a definite advantage over the “V” I would think on this size. I think the 300’s are the sh!t for this application 😉.
Just my opinion. 👍
