i understand what you are saying but that will not happen.....to much money and to good for the local towns/businesses involved and boating in general....also that would kill boating....with that being said outlawing a full blown race boat yes i could see that happening at a local event....their was a death and a crash last week in destin....so they gonna shut down crab island and destin boating??

Gadzooks......what a loopy thread!
Some thoughts to ponder......
One more thing and then I'm out of here...... Simply stating a common sense counterpoint to someone or something you idolize is not "hating". This knee jerk label has become yet another, over used defensive weapon for the under informed. To me "hating" is irrational negativity for its own sake and from a purely emotional standpoint. In fact an equally useless activity is "loving" which is irrational positivity for its own sake and from a purely emotional standpoint. The world today has too much of both in equal amounts proving that the majority of people are.... still .....almost always wrong.
Thank God that this accident was not a lot more serious, but a quick look at high performance powerboating history proves that it certainly could have been.
Y'all be safe now.....

Some thoughts to ponder......
- Almost every high speed accident is the fault of the operator...every time I flipped or barrel rolled in a boat race it was my fault. If the boat was quirky and it misbehaved, it was still my fault because I knew it and pushed the envelope to be more competitive. If I didn't see a wake or react in time...it was my fault. In this case responsibility is solely in the hands of the guy who lost control of the boat. If a rudder broke off, or a prop failed, etc, blame might be shared by the rigger, but the guy behind the wheel still bears responsibility for deciding to push the loud lever when and where he did.
- A cop (on a jet ski) showing up within one minute was meaningless. What was he going to do if the boat was upside down and sinking with two possibly unconscious crew members drowning? In races, fully equipped rescue helicopters are required for canopied boats...What's the difference here?
- Poker Runs are NOT RACES GODDAMMIT! Running your flashy toy beyond its (or your) limits doesn't belong in a multi boat party/parade.
- An assumption here is that anyone (especially a nice guy who gives out free tee shirts and drinks) who can afford an "uber boat" with flashy paint and a big "WOW" factor must be talented enough to handle it.... Wrong!. That's why pros like JT, Joey Imprescia, Gary Ballough and Stevie Curtis are better than everybody else...and get paid accordingly by guys who have the accumen to create wealth and the ability to recognize their own (diminished) limits. If you have a missile like "My Way" you need someone like that.....
- High speed boating is definitely in danger precisely because of incidents like this and the publicity that causes waterways, insurance companies, and local communities to close there ears to the go fast group.
- I have no problem with someone pushing the envelope (even if he (or she) is over his head) in a controlled environment with safety crews, equipment, etc on a closed course for record setting purposes, but blasting along at 150-200 mph anytime and anywhere you feel like it really makes no sense, and very little good can come of it other than self aggrandizement....if you survive. It is no different than these idiots who do 100 mph wheelies on hi-po motorcycles weaving in and out on major highways. (By the way, do the cops ever pull these morons over or do they simply wait for the laws of selective elimination to turn them into a bloodstain on the grill of some hapless tractor trailer? ) but I digress......
- Has anyone on this website ever considered the simple possibility that there is such a thing as a wildly overpowered boat???? One well beyond the limits of hull integrity, hydrodynamic, and aerodynamic design, and simple common sense? What if this floating spectacle had twice the power, or maybe 10 times? Where is the limit...and what if some of today's equipment passed that threshold years ago? Sorry turbine fans.....but wedging a pair of fuel guzzling, sun hot temperature, high revving blow torches into a long, sleak, glamorous, space age reinforced potato chip may not be such a great idea.

For those that support these speeds on public waterways just remember you don't have anything similar to the 2nd amendment protecting your right to operate a boat in this fashion regardless of how much insurance you carry.
Poker runs as they exist are probably running out of time. With that a bunch of high performance boat and engine builders may be in trouble.

Geee... waves.... made by a boat (cruiser) ... on a open body of water.... in a wake zone and you are faulting and trying to hang the cruiser owner... remind me NEVER to boat where you guys do. Whether you run 50, 70, 90, 120, 150, 190... guess what... you read/scan whats in front of you all the time. You make adjustments. If the conditions don't allow for "x" speed, you don't do it. Oh wait, thats the logical side of me coming out. Yeah, speed is fun, poker runs are fun, however, let this **** die.. the my way crew ****ed up, took a wave wrong in an OPEN BODY OF WATER when WAVES CAN BE MADE and screwed their boat up. Luckily no one was hurt! This time. Will this inject some common sense or maybe make some people think twice about certain conditions or surroundings prior to hammering down? Maybe.... but in this case... probably not. Flame me if you want but reading through all this bull**** if freaking ridiculous... going after the cruiser... give me a break.... if he was being malicious and doing circles trying to make waves for jetski's...sure... but the guy was enroute somewhere...
You may continue on your waste of bandwidth... enjoy!

Glad all are OK.
As far as I know from having run a big cat, clearly boat got squirrely from the wake he hit and landed wrong. It's water not asphalt. Good save.

1. The man, "I bet that was scary." - stating the obvious.
2. The woman, "I betcha that's expensive." - an intuitive statement but dead on accurate regarding either the value of the boat, or the upcoming repair bill.
Glad no one was hurt. The audio of woman did make me laugh.
