It happens all the time. We just forget about them.

Anyone remember Flash Gordon and Nashville Cats?
How about the turbine cat flip on the Chesapeake Bay a few years back?
Pammy?

RIP to all of them, Bruce now included too.

I can't figure out the formula for if we vilianize or praise the drivers/throttlemen after these "events" take place.

It's a good thing the cancelled Michigan City race a few days ago wasn't a Run. Poker Runners still would have still headed out. A wave caused it? Gosh, imagine that! I'd have never expected one of those to pop up.

I certainly hope the Poker Run "Congress" in Miami this year makes creates a significant "safety treaty" for ALL of these runs.

It is a shame so many people speculate. It's part of the sport. Fast boats = risks, **** can and does happen. Period. Same thing could have happened on a race course. Glad every one is ok.

Don't bash or hate because they have the ability to do this. As for the insurance, I would bet that both of these boats are self insured, and there will be no claim.

Here are a couple of shots of the boat after the wreck DRIVING back to a dock. Taken from the Canadian Forum.

ive never meet Mr T and the My Way boat is an awesome boat but if this is the crew that was in the boat at the time of the accident maybe their jeans got caught in the throttles and they couldnt pull back then they hit the cruiserwake...im glad everyone is ok...im sure he will be back bigger and better

Ok, so a 24' Powerboat encounters the same wave going 50. What's the outcome? We will read about the bodies being fished out by the CC.

What about the "other" fast boats in poker runs? All of the over 100 crowd? Never been any accidents there, right?

It is the sport, and this is part of OUR sport. Either racing or poker runs.

Control the sport, kill the sport. If you choose to participate in the sport, be prepared for the consequences.

Last month he spun out viciously..

I love my fast boats but these poker runs have become too much in my opninon... I'm doing a poker run this weekend and I'll be taking it easy... No ego, fist-pumping, chest bumping BS for me.

I dont recall too many 24' boats violently crashing in 2 poker runs in the same year?

.........And if he had hit that wave a few seconds earlier and launched 50ft of boat into that Searay at 150? Should those who where injured/killed just claim its "consequences"?

I dont think ANYONE is saying that boats shouldn't be able to run fast, but, it should be in an environment thats SAFE [relatively] to go that fast. Comparing Poker Runs to Professional racing is apples and oranges. The Offshore racers do it on a CLOSED course and are paid professionals, not just guys with deep pockets who like to go fast once a month.

I look at all the boat traffic in that video and CANT help but think, if he had "lost it" a few seconds earlier........

The important thing is everyone is OK, Hopefully they rebuild and return

Be Safe!

We are very lucky as boaters to not have all kinds of rules and regulations enforced upon us by the government. I would like to think that is because we are responsible and self governing, and I hope we can keep it that way.
When incidents like this happen it catches the eye of the governing authorirties. They dont care if the operator is a good guy or a nice neighbor. these types of speeds are not called for unless on a CLOSED course. For the good of the boating public I hope a lesson has been learned. Glad everyone on MY WAY is ok and also thankful that no innocent boating public was hurt THIS TIME.

First off I am glad everyone is ok, Second of I do not know anyone, but I am sure that the owner of My Way is more then capable of handling that rig, but me personally would never attempt to reach them speeds unless i was in a controlled environment, lets face it at 200mph how can you figure out what the person on the horizon is doing or gonna do. and that horizon comes up fast, really fast! I am not saying this was the case, for all I know the speeds were around 100 for all I know,
