I have my lanyard with a wrist strap that I wear at all times while underway. When i stop I trow it over the throttles to remind me to put it back on when leaving.

I wish all a good recovery and hats off to a true hero... Incredible act of courage!

I started wearing mine quite awhile ago after reading stories like this. Not only the sheer horror of having yourself or passengers ejected being run over, but at speed, think of your boat continuing on becoming a dangerous missile on the water. I test mine every so often, intentional or not ;)

I need a better set up, something easier than my set up^^^like that.....where did you get your wrist strap? is it lanyard specific or did you adapt it from something else like hiking or something?

From what I heard, the boat was heading for one of the guys in the water and the guy drove into the boat to divert it and kept it from hitting the guy in the water. Next move was to get in front of the unmanned boat and let it drive into the side of his boat while jumping onboard to kill the engines .
There appears to be 2 impacts on the unmanned boat . 2 impacts on the other. 1 dead on the nose and the other where it appears the unmanned boat drove up on to the deck of the rescuer's boat... No doubt his actions saved lives. Great jo P.S Keep them all in your prayers... Some are in serious condition ..... |
If someone can set up a fund to help him with the damages to his boat if he needs it, I'll donate some...SuperHero stuff for sure

I use a generic PWC lanyard that I bought from Overtons.com, and I have a small carabiner I picked up at Lowes or Home Depot. I clip the lanyard over the bottom of my shorts or to the waistband. It keeps it completely out of the way, and I still can move across the boat if I need to. You can get any of these items in a multitude of colors to match your boat as well vs. the stock Merc red cord setup which goes to crap within a few outings. http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...7&merchID=4006 http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...7&merchID=4006 Just snip the plastic PWC kill switch rings off the end with a large pair of dykes, and stick the loose end of the lanyard into your kill switch. It works perfect, but make sure you test it by RIPPING it out, not just a simple tug. |
