weekend Outerlimits boating accident on chesapeake bay

Did anyone hear about a performance boat rollover after the poker run ?

BillR 08-19-2012 07:34 PM

What I heard on Facebook, BUT not confirmed and was NOT part of Rock the Bay!

I heard a boat was doing 85 and they caught a wave wrong tossed the passengers out, boat continued to circle them as they floated until someone rammed it with their own.

Wow! That is scary stuff! ESP for a v bottom. Was it rough out?

Let’s Rock took one for the team. Hats off to them. Hope the injured are going to be ok. It appeared to be some broken bones and bad lacerations. Apparently the OL did a full barrel roll and ended upright and still motoring with no occupants. And yes it was well after rock the bay had ended.

That's crazy, good for "lets rock" taking control of the situation sacrificing his own equipment and safety for the protection of fellow boaters.

I just got off the phone with xxxx and xxxx. they would like you to know that they are fine. xxxx phone is not working. xxxx is reaching out to everyone as best as she can. she is hopeing to get out of Christiana soon. most importantly they want to thank everyone for thinking of them.

So glad they are ok. That was super scary. Everyone needs to wear those teachers. They were all ejected and the boat was chasing them in circles. Thank god xxxx xxxx was able to ram into their boat and stop it.

He's a hero in my book, need more people like him in the world, selfless.....just hope everyone involved will be ok....heard to many variations of what happened, so I'm not going to comment on that.....

I dont know why some people refuse to wear the lanyards. I have a quick clasp i attach to the vest or just to my trunks just in case

Sounds like the driver/occupants were damn lucky, many times over.

Lanyards save lives folks.

And apparently so does a brave soul willing to tear up his own gear to save your life. I wonder what kind of insurance mess that will cause.

I'd love to know how he rammed the boat to stop it. I'm curious if he may have aimed for it and jumped aboard, or had someone jump at the right moment.

Looks like a 46 Limited

Kudos to the guy doing the "PITT" maneuver!

Glad to hear such a positive outcome........I took a soft jetski lanyard and affix it the the kill switch of all my boats. Easy to slip it over the wrist.
