Neighborhoods are giving a written WARNING to those that are not from the area... :
I spoke with a friend of mine that is from a different section than this photo and told me the homeowner was sitting in his garage at night with all of his belongings as he watched a car pull up with the lights out. They began to walk up his driveway and he fired off a shotgun. They were lucky he gave them a warning shot. needless to say the 2 of them ran back to their car and fled out of there.

I just had that same conversation with my aunt (has a house in Seaside) & other aunt (has a house in Surf City, LBI) They are both in their early 80's & time is precious at that age. Anyway, they are safe & we shall see how the Jersey Shore restoration project goes. It will be quite a task.

From what I can see in my Aerial Photos of Seaside, it appears most fared pretty well. I am sure they may have been flooded in areas, but the structures of most look all intact.
Looking at the roadways they look fine but Seaside put a stop to Berkely Twp residents from going to their homes which made out very well. Midway & S. Seaside Park areas were little affected due to their dune system. Seaside claims the roads are unsafe .

Thanks Sharkey. Looks like there is still plenty of beach left in Seaside & I guess more when the sand is removed from the streets etc. The condition of the structures will have to be determined one at a time.
My father helped build the J. Stanley Tunney Bridge in the late 60's. My buddies & I would get a ride to work with him in the summer, have breakfast at Sinn's restaurant, spend the day at Seaside Beach, then catch a ride home with POP. Good times, lot's of laughs.

You're welcome.
Spent another day shooting Brick and even spoke with the Mayor. It was quite brief as his phone wouldn't stop ringing.
I filled him in on what I was doing and handed him my card. He was very appreciative being as this is such a historical moment.
Also spent more time in Point Pleasant Beach. I made my way to the Inlet and got a few shots fired off before an officer escorted me out of the area.
Once I had a chance to discuss with him what I was doing I was given a lot more flexibility .
Power lines were down and County workers were working hard in the parking lot and wanted no visitors. I had no problem with that and asked for permission to come around the west side. Permission was granted and I of course would meet up with another officer near the Coast Guard Station. I assured him I did not need to get into the closed area as my lens would provide me enough range to get what I needed. Mission accomplished.
