Boat looks awesome!

Why scoops on the hatches? Why not the old school Apache style race/blower hatches?

There's some old footage of the Warpath, I think it may have been it's debut season, and the boat had scoops. If I can find the video I'll post it. I think it was the Pt. Pleasant Grand Prix.

DrGaryDC 03-28-2013 08:23 AM

Yea, i have seen those, old school style scoops, those could work too:)

Great sounding engines...................

With all the new stuff out there, it is pretty amazing to see Bobby put together a new twist on his old receipe for success and still come out on top. Not to mention that anybody who is really serious about running hard in the open ocean has already picked up an older 41 Apache and redone it. The 41 came from a stretched 37.6 foot Cigarette. That 37.6 later became the Top Gun. Bobby showed up with the first 37.6 in Mar del Plata, Argentina in 1978. As you would expect, the boat was immaculate when it was unwrapped. Congrats buddy, you have only gotten better with age, keep up the good work and let's see that new boat come back from Europe with a first overall.

This boat has exceeded expectations. I remember the goal as 90 mph (best case) an on the first sea trial, full of fuel, three 200+ guys in the boat and no engine hatch it beat that #by a lot and with the engines on the bump box.

To say Bobby is happy is an understatement as this boat surprised us all. I don't know where this bottom came from or who designed what but it runs really well with modest power.

DrGaryDC 03-29-2013 10:11 AM

Ok, so what does that mean "beat that #by alot", 94, 100, 105?

TURBO JET 03-29-2013 10:40 AM

These?

I'll let Bobby tell the news, but consider that the other Chief with "Chief 950's" ran 98 and this boat is faster with smaller power.

DrGaryDC 03-29-2013 12:32 PM

The Chiro One 41 apache will be testing soon too, I look forward to share our outcome. I too was pleased with the numbers with the small power along with 200 gallons in her:)

What kind of power you gonna have in her doc... I LOVE THAT BOAT!!

It is always hard to compare boats as there are always so many little factors to consider.

Warpath is NOT a notched transom boat so there is a bit more running surface.

Mohican on the other hand is layed up so heavy that the transom had to be routed before the #6 drives were installed. I do not know the weight on Mohican but I am sure it is far heavier than Warpath. :-P Waves move out of the way for that one.

Higher freeboard as well.By 6-8 inches I would say.

c_deezy 03-29-2013 10:57 PM

Is that another current build going on?? I love the name!

Nice to see the other... old guys ....work involved here....Howard. I remember like it was yesterday, lining up against these two guys, Bobby on one side and Howard on the other at a start of an Open class race.

Great to see all that experience paying off right out of the box.

I spoke with the "Chief" and he told me he will be there for the entire race cheering on Warpath, Ole and the crew.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/u...psdae56d37.jpg

Bob, Ole and myself made all the necessary adjustment's before Warpath departed for the U.K., just to make sure all systems were operating correctly. We stopped for a photo, showing off some tools of the trade. :)

ItsPeanut 05-31-2013 07:48 AM

Great pic Phil. Are you going to make it also and how is the Scout coming?

Thanks Peanut. I won't be attending the race but can't wait to hear how Ole, the crew and Warpath does.
The Scout is coming along great, the USCG will be visiting me this month for the vessel inspection. She should be finished this summer...

I land in London on thursday and will be their for a few weeks. My first stop is the pits where I hope to meet Bobby, Ole and OSO member Paul Buckner who has been a great help and offered me a ride down the river with the boats on saturday all the way to Ramsgate. I will take as many pics as i can and share what boating is like on the other side of the pond. I will try to keep you posted and Good luck with the USCG inspection.

Make sure you came and say hi - I'll give you the tour of E66 and show you how we get great speed from not much HP! We should arrive around Thursday lunchtime all being well with traffic! It will be a pleasure to return the hospitality I received in Miami at the boat show and Key West when I visited the "World Championships" there. Not sure we will be able to match Duval Street but Canary Wharf allegedly has some great bars and restaurants.

Great news for Bobby and all the old guys who can still kick some butt, just before we all go into rocking chairs.

Cutting edge 2013. Just like the 80's all over again. Kudos to Howard Arneson and Ilmor for the powertrain.
