Think Rik calls themASD 6/8.
The drives on the Chief has 1:1,56 gearing.
Ilmor 725,s and crashboxes.

The boat should corner very very well and handle the ROUGH equally as well.

Comanche3Six 10-31-2012 12:15 PM

Love those Arnesons!

Did Checkmate conduct the layup?

no issues 10-31-2012 02:16 PM

It was layed up in Florida under Chief. Carl Jobert, and Bobby Saccenti did the lamination schedule. It is a Kevlar, Carbon Fiber schedule. I dont know all the details on the entire schedule but it is not a balsa core boat. You would have to ask Bobby for any details on that.

eddie 10-31-2012 04:18 PM

Cool project!

I'm going to take a guess that the bottom is foam core. If there's a hit, foam will not suck up water like balsa.

THEJOKER 10-31-2012 10:10 PM

Nice project. I like all glass bottoms w/ cored sides / deck.

I'm not sure Bobby would build a cored boat, especially the bottom.

Good luck guys, boat is looking great!

Old tech left, new tech right.

What an iconic boat. The lines are just unmistakable. I hope they paint/sticker it up to look like the original. It looks like the correct color combo to make a modern classic.

PhilV30 12-21-2012 11:18 AM

A "modern classic" are the perfect words for this boat. I hope there is plenty of race footage of it during the 2,400 mile challenge.

Smarty 12-21-2012 07:26 PM

It has been on my mind for years if I ever had a new boat built that I would like the paint scheme of the Warpath Apache above. That is one of my FAVORITE boats of alltime. I am glad to see someone else thinks like me and has had this new 2012 version built. Outstanding.

I wish them the best of luck in the race, I will be keeping track of this new Chief powerboat.

MrSneakAttack 12-21-2012 08:31 PM

sweet! i cant wait to see it completed!

ThoroughHustler 12-21-2012 09:27 PM

That race looks sick...id love to have a boat to enter!

I think 10,300 weight and like 500 gallon fuel capacity. Not sure of speed, should be over 100 mph though.

Last I checked, which was just before the holidays they were waiting for an Arneson to come back from the west coast. So no, not that I'm aware of.

PhilV30 01-25-2013 07:22 PM

Latest on the 42' Chief "Warpath"

"Warpath" is in the paint shop getting it's long awaited legendary art work. How lucky are we to have the internet this time around to see the different phases of building this amazing race boat.
