I believe Eddie Young had my phantom back in the day and it ran about 100 with one of his blower motors. Its a '94 VERY heavy 29, standard vee. Been toying with the idea of blower motor and breaking 100 again. The ride is unreal for a 29 but is also so well balanced it runs a good number for being so heavy.

I've seen Matt Brownie of Brownie racing engines run 118 MPH on radar in his Velocity 240 at the Tim's 2 radar run on the Potomac river in 2012. The boat had a blown 540, bravo drive with imco internals.

I think the fastest single engine v-bottom stern drive is the Howard 28 Bullet @ 122 mph, I might be wrong.

Sorry for the thread creep-
With the 29s, the swim platform prevents you from getting the drive high enough to make the boat handle right. Remember, the farther back the drive is mounted, the higher it needs to be. I drove a 29 to 110 with this setup, scariest thing ive ever done. The 29 with it right on the transom on the other hand, its at 105 with one hand on the wheel and no tab in the water. Once the one with the box got upset, there was no correcting it.

I think I solved your 25yr old mystery. This was probably the boat, crazy fast!

Checkmate vision 22' ran 131.62 mph! Not bad for 1990 and the fastest single engine v hull I've heard about.

Wow! Thats pretty damn fast for a 22' boat. I would have to install a porta potty to puke in then clean out the pants after that ride.

YES!! THAT IS THE BOAT!! I didn't think that anyone would believe me! That thing was sitting on the prop as it KICKED MY A$$, Imagine going close to 100MPH and somebody in a 22ft blowing by you as if you were trolling in a fishing tournament!! I guess I was lucky in one respect to have seen that thing run!! Flat out amazing for the Time!!! As someone said on that forum link " Can you imagine what he would be running if he was doing it today"
