The skater has proven it is the fastest pound for pound with same motors and drives. Nothing compared to it. When they all ran the same weight with 525 and 6s the skater crushed them. Reggie cried so much they added weight to the skater to slow it down. And everyone knows none of the fountain motors were ever legal. So, pound for pound same motors drives the skater is the choice.

Discussing fast Vee hulls, and 'modern' v 'old' design, I'd think you'd have to include these, wouldn't you?
La Gran Argentina (1994)

RED FPT (1985)

Cinzano (built when rocks and dirt were young)

Or, well, maybe not ... those boats don't run FAST - they run FIRST.

And it will NOT break your back/neck in rough water. He obviously hasn't run one or spent any real time in one.
The 42 Fountain is and always will be one of the best handling vee bottoms ever built. Period.

He did, and Reggie's 171 & change is pretty well-known before he started thumbing poor ol' Fiore's eyeball; and that Fiore tucked his tail and slunk off before dawn is telling also.
That said, anybody who has ever owned racehorses knows better than to conflate Fast and First.

First of all thats RACE conditions, which has a huge driver impact. This has quickly turned into a "ride" debate, which is NOT the OP's question. Also the quality ride is highly driven by the driver/throttleman and anyone who's ridden in a boat with a bad driver can thumbs up that one.It has no relevance to this debate. The question is the fastest v-bottom out there. Techincally the fastest v bottom is a fountain, but lets be honest it was a one off with a multitude of issues due it being a 1 off build. OL is building the fastest v-bottoms out, period. Show me another 52ft v-bottom (STOCK) going 145mph with STOCK 1350's? Not to metnion they had another 52 go 138Mph in a 1 mile speedrun. As in, proven MULTIPLE TIMES. If im not mistaken(and I could be) but wasnt the last 42 (actually a 38 footer) the teal stempede boat with 1075's and it went 135 or less with no cabin mind you? The 44SL went 139MPH with the SAME POWER with a FULL cabin and its a MUCH bigger boat. Fountain is old technology. Outerlimits has pretty much left everyone else in the dust in terms of v-bottom technology.

but
I have to admit it's a somewhat useless record. The boats today are sold more on luxury them speed.
