Got the 78 when I turned 16. Bought it with around 55k orig miles. Was bone stock, 400 Pontiac engine, TH350 Auto, 2:56 posi. Didn't take long for me to get the heads ported, bigger cam, carb, intake, 3.73 rear, 11'' converter, headers, etc. Then it was halfway respectable. At the track it ran mid 13's after those mods. Then when I turned 21 I bought the 2001 Ram Air T/A. It was cool having that and the old one in the garage next to each other. Wish I had more pic's of the 78. This pic was before I had it repainted (same orig color), and all new decals including the correct Screamin Chicken on the hood. It looked much better after that.

I knew it, you are officially cool.
Did you wear your AC/DC cutoff shirt and jam out with the t-tops off? |

I also had one of each of these.
1975 Pontiac Grandville. Top of the line Pontiac in 1975. 400CI TH400. Bought with 49k orig Was Dark Green with white interior and white vinyl top. Had more fun in that car than any other. 1976 Coupe Deville 500CI Triple black, bought with 47k orig. Car was a gem. 1975 Delta 88 Convertible. 350CI Bought with 39k orig miles. Same exact car as pic 1981 Buick Lesabre (was my daily driver for a while). Black with maroon velour. Had low miles and was nice until my buddy smashed it drunk one night..... Not hot rods at all. Just clean cruisers. Still had the T/A's for hot rodding during that time. I owned these cars from mid 90s to 2000ish. |

Did you wear your AC/DC cutoff shirt and jam out with the t-tops off? My car collection may have seemed odd for a young guy. But you must realize I grew up in a Italian neighborhood in Chicago. The kind of neighborhood where we didn't go swimming, we turned the fire hydrant on and drank while washing the cars on a hot Saturday, with Frankie Valli and the 4 seasons playing on the stereo. You were cooler if you had a Cadillac, than you were if you had a Camaro. When someone came by who wanted a rinse off, you simply "lifted" the pump, like in this pic. Miss those good times..... |

One of my prouder moments was taking my girlfriend to a Van Halen concert in my T/A. I mean...talk about APPROPRIATE. It was like 94 or 95, though, and Hagar forgot the words on his solo...

Oh...and just so everyone knows...the "unicorn" was on the water yesterday. We saw it cruise through as we were swinging on anchor just off downtown Chi-town...

I have pictures of the goat some where, and I know I never took one picture of that disgusting pacer! |
I take ownership of possibly owning the worst car. 1976 Dodge Aspen station wagon with the fake wood on the sides. I got a deal on it via work and used it as a dealership new beater for hauling stuff. Factory mono 8 track, special.

:drink::drink::drink: 79 VW Dasher wagon. Two totals cut and welded across the floor at the B pillar and up top of the A pillar.

My first car was a gift from my uncle. A mint 69 GTO with a 400. After getting about 12 tickets in 2 months it was sold by my parents and the money was put in my college fund, less the money used to buy my replacement guy that was also owned by my uncle....a mint Pacer "X". I went from having the coolest car at school to being the laughing stock at school. My used to put fish stickers all over the windows, and called it the fish bowl

Sweet! Im a big vinyl top fan. My buddy had a Cherry Red 72 with black vinyl top, and black interior. Had the cragar rally wheels. Just a simple, clean, good lookin car. Had the original 350 2 barrel, and he did the usual cam/intake/carb/headers. One day i'd like to get one, triple black with the original buckets and console, TH400 and 12 bolt, and stick a nice mill in it.

I had a neighbor years ago that built a convertible 1970 Monte Carlo, The only place you could tell it wasn't factory was at the base of the top around the trunk lid where he blended a skylark convertible top to the Monte body. Sorry I don't have any pics but it was clean enough to win a couple of local car shows. Randy
