I can give you the answer your looking for.........Since i have owned both boats that you talk about and have raced both boats in Factory 1 class + a few other P classes I feel I have the experience to give you the facts. I have owned 2 pantera's, a 24 sit down and a 28 5 man bolster stand up. I have owned 3 Activators, 2 27's and 1 30 all sit down. I have a plate in my neck along with 3 more herniated discs and a terrible back not to mention many other problems. There is no comparison when it comes to comfort........sit down boat wins every time! I was a big fan of stand up bolsters when I first started racing,........I didn't know any better. Once I got into a 27 Activator with sit downs I discovered how wrong I was. Every part of sitting is more comfortable and safer than a stand up bolster, and so true when talking about these 2 boats in particular. Hope this helps. BJ Maher

It takes a little to get used to a sit down boat, but I like a sit down better.....

I agree with BJ., I have also had a 28 Pantera with stand up bolsters, and now a 30' Activator with sit down seats. I also have a plate in my neck. It does take a little while to get used to, but sit down is more comfortable. My neck, back and legs used to be trashed after a day of boating standing up. With the sit downs I feel much better.

I am thinking of updating my interior in my scarab and seriously thinking of permanent sit down seats. I have drop down bolsters now and never drop them down. The down side to the seats I have are they are really meant to be used in the standup position because they are not at all comfortable in the sitting position. Anyone got any pictures of sit down seats in there boats? Looking for some ideas!

Thanks
Jim

What type of seats do you have and what is it that makes them uncomfortable?

I am amazed, out of all the photos I have, I have none that show a decent shot of the front seats

This is the best I got. I guess the most uncomfortable thing is the seat pan itself. It is really short so you never feel like you are sitting fully in the seat!

SIT-Down w/good foot rests is the way to go.
