My 1st trip to the bay, always heard good things about the area & the run. I didn't participate in the run just took advantage of the timing to make sure my boat was in tip top shape since I had it brought there to be sold.

IMO from the outside looking in & having participated in many other non-PRA events I felt as if th $650 entry was steep & even steeper based on the fact there wasn't any helicopter for pics or video.

The sad part is that between the marine police & City of Alex Bay they so don't get the big picture of the $$$ & business the PR brings to town. Instead they prefer to rule w/ their guns & badges, leaving a bad experience for those of us who haven't been before.
NAS,
I guess the BIG Q's is did you sell the Skater?

Sorry to have to read some of these posts ...

If you care to take a look at this event it seems to be the best bang for the buck, and you get to run in the open lake (weather permitting) where to my knowledge no one seems to have been hassled in the past for any of the above reasons... See this thread for the Buffalo Poker Run : http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/p...-9th-10th.html

Huge just watched File 0426, the run back from Brockville to the Bay. I was in Holy Cow with Kelly running with you from the cross over back to ABay.
You my friend have one big pair!!! Could not believe what you put that boat thru.

If you are ever up in the area look me up, I would die for a rip in that boat!!!

i must say the poker run was very nice. it was great to meet some new faces to put with the screen names. check out some awesome boats. but to be totally honest for the money we spent to go there, fueling up at the local gas station, buying booze at the local liquor store, 6 rooms at the edgewood resort, breakfast, lunch , and dinner at the local resturants, paying for dockage at the hotel. Even tho we did not enter the run which was just simply cus an extra grand wasnt something i could swing this weekend. I am not in a hurry to go back. the local COWBOYS really pissed on my expensive to me weekend. and everywhere i looked someone else minding their own business was getting pulled over. it felt like just because we had a go fast boat up there for the poker run weekend it was a trap for the local law enforcement to make a paycheck. i felt i supported the local alex bay economy as best i could without the local authorities sticking it up my a$$.
that sucks. I have never been even pulled over in the boat or truck up there. But I must say the registered thing is your fault. People up here all the time when I buy stuff will say its registered for two years, uh so its not in my name doesnt really matter. Its like driving around with somebody else valid drivers license.

none because they can do a safety check without probably cause. Once your stopped and find no life jacket on a kid, or missing reg, you just sealed your fate

I believe you can deny the locals if you are USCG Documented. Pulling that card probably goes over like a lead balloon!

right it would be like denying to take breathalizer, admits guilt immediately. But even with USCG documentation, if they pull up and already find somebody without a life jacket, run your reg and you are not current, the USCG card probably would get laughed at.
