One of those two record setting Fountains needed a new transom a year later. I saw it in the shop. It was an ultra light lay-up and the outer skin appeared to be about 1/16 inch thick. Now, that doesn't mean that I don't respect Reggie Fountain Sr. (and Jr.). IMO the original executioner changed performance boating. My first ride in an off-shore powerboat was in one and we topped 70 mph with a pair of 454s. My dream boat used to be a 42 Fountain. Not anymore. Too much wood.

I will! But... If I were wishing, Nor-Tech, Cigarette, Skater, MTI, Outerlimits, Sunsation, Donzi ZR all come to mind before Fountain. Fountain had their glory days. They did a lot for the industry but the name doesn't hold the same prestige that it once did.
