I use the line: I've been hired to aerate the lake to keep the fish alive.

Why so loud: So the fish hear me coming.

In my marina I'm surrounded by sail boats and trawlers, no one talks to me.

My boat has In-Control Foot Throttle and Foot Trim pedals. People ask me all the time what the left pedal is for. I always say "brakes" before I walk away. That leaves them wondering.

We have stayed at Elmwood a couple times, not a real fuzzy feeling staying there. Workers are nice, not much talk between the boaters.

My boat certainly isn't the rough water machine that many here are, but I have also had people tell me how their smaller boat is just as fast or faster. I tell them to bring it to LOTO on a summer weekend to show me. No takers yet.
. people ask me that all the time , my answer " haul ass and burn gas "

We have a 90' houseboat & get the similar questions at the gas dock, only to the other extreme. Nobody believes me when I tell them it is powered by a pair of 4.3L v-6's & tops out at 11mph. Then come the bedroom questions: "how many does that thing sleep?" A:16 or more depending on how many people share the 4 bedrooms.

I am in the Army stationed in Fort Hood. I get a lot of the "You in the Army?" and then followed up by the "What rank are you?" question. People around here are willing to drop 40k on a Stingray, but fail to realize the potential in used boats. The only other one I get is the gas question.

Is must be just up north?? Down here everyone will wave!

I bought my boat in Va this spring, the mechanic rode with us for the sea trial.. as i idled past some bass fishers, I waved and only received stares.. mechanic said they don't like go fasts around there b/c they haul ass every where.. but really i extended the no wake zone and was really far enough away to take off and didn't get so much as a head nod.. even the mechanic questioned why I was waiting..

Well on the way back, I stayed on plane till I got back to the no wake zone.. as I approached the bass boats, the mechanic asked, are you going to slow down? With a straight face, I responded, "no, they didn't wave!"
Then He busted out laughing!

Note: they were hugging the bank in small lake and only caused a little rocking by the time the waves reached them, but I tried to be courteous the first time..
