Downsized from a Top Gun to a newer 30' Cig Mystique T/S. It's sooo much easier to tow around, 5k lbs lighter and way more efficient on fuel. Much faster too! No regrets.

Went from a Baja 30 Outlaw with twins to a Baja 275 with a single. Can put more miles on in one day now than I would have been able to with the 30 without filling up on the water. I would love to have a bigger boat but just not worth the cost and fuel that goes with it.

I hear your point. The cruiser left its slip one time this year. the 18 footer was out maybe 4-5 times I had a blast on in it but its too small, I'm thinking about going to 27-32 footer with a single or small blocks. I thinking of something easy to trailer etc. But didn't want to regret it a year later wishing I would have got 35-38 foot boat.

I have always been told that the bigger your boat gets, the less you take it out, any truth to this?

I went from a 28 Nordic to a 35 Nordic. Got rid of the 35 after 2 years and bought my 28 back. I like it much better than the 35 for the type of boating I do. The 28 is much easier to tow and handle, more economical, and a lot faster. I strictly boat inland lakes so the 28 will handle most any water conditions just fine.

I have a 30' Scarab, bought a Chaparral 20' runabout couple of years ago. Box stock, doesn't even have thur-transoms. I use the Chappy 10 to 1 over the Scarab. I fill up and run 3 days, quiet running down the lake, you can talk while underway, easy to pull, load, unload. It reminds me of how it was going to the lake as a kid. Now having said all that, I don't know if I'd be so enamored by it if I couldn't get my loud, twin engine, fast and nasty fix whenever I wanted!!! LOL!

depends on what your needs are and what you want out of the boat. I had a 311 formula and a cafe racer before my current boat a squadron 27. It is much easier to own, maintain and cheaper to run as well. very good boat with reliable power and for our needs, not as heavy as my previous boats and hence not such a wave crusher but I don't need it to be. We like to take the boat out for around 3 hours on the weekends, and have no need for a cabin. just a nice kind of sports car boat.

Like I said, depends on how you plan to use your boat

Still have the 34 SCARAB but it doesn't have drives or motors. Bought a 26 Daytona and love it. can't wait for next summer.
