My first yr insurance was about $21/$1000 value and a 5% deductible with the Tres Martin course and 5 years of 100+ V Hull experience and a boat under 130. Then second year I up graded power to get to 150mph and it stayed about the same but the deductible went up to 10%. So we are talking $7000-7500 for a $350K insured amount. That is with Total Dollar so if you have a $200K value boat it would stay down around $4k and yeah it is a lot but not just crazy money. I know of others paying even less if you just shop around.

So are u saying if it was a new 600-700k boat and that was the insured amount, then the cost for the year would be 14-15k?

I may never own a cat of that cost buy I think that would be pretty close. My Jag insurance cost is $3500 but the older hulls are a bit more expensive. Simply cost of the boat and speed determines the insurance cost.

Love your boat! I've seen you out in some pretty rough water it seems to handle it pretty good.

I think that would be pretty accurate.

And before you say HOLY CHIT!!!!! If you can afford a $700K cat then you should not be too surprised at the insurance and if that is what would stop you from buying the boat then you probably have no business spending that kind of money on it!

Actually sounds right in line with i and my friends paid, maybe on the concervative side. Especially for a new cat owner, and on the price of a new cat. Your not going to get anything special for $6-700K for a new boat. The 1350's will eat up almost half of that. Figure in paint, rigging, pros, trailer, electronics and hull and that won't go very far these days unfortunately.
