Lets hope it's close to the OL factory just in case one of these mechanical failures. Apparently Fountains factory didn't have the right stuff to fix the "mechanical failure" last time when Reggie offered it. If they dial it in and someone is willing to push the sticks that far... We'll see...

Setting the record certainly did not help Fountain, but having the million+ $$$ back that it costs them might have helped.

Yes it has, and thank God, things were a little boring lately. There is not much middle ground here on this topic; lots of strong-willed-opinions and good-natured banter thus far.
I look forward to hearing more diluted logic, insane opinion, crafty argument, mis-information, propaganda, and cheer-leading from both the Reggie supporters, and OL trumpet blowers, all in good fun of course.
If Joe Sgro was driving a Fountain, Skater, OL, Statement, MTI, Phantom, or a Boston Whaler, he would drive it to the limit, and be successful at it. I hope he breaks the record for him, to make Joe Sgro the fastest V bottom driver in the world, the thread is just much more interesting that it will be attempted in an OL, but they do make the a very fast boat, no arguing that.
So what are truly accurate facts?
1. Is Joe trying to break the record for Joe or is about redemption for M. Fiore?
2 Is it really an OL supported venture, just using Joe's boat, and having him drive it?
3. Will M. Fiore be on throttles?
4. How much hp will these so-called 1650 really be making on the day of the run?
5. Will Mercury engineers be dialing in the motors, blue printing the drives (what typ of drives does this boat have?)?
6. Where will the record be attempted? and When?
7. What does the boat weigh?
8. Is the bottom the same as the other bottoms that OL is producing, or is it more of a one-off/prototype?
9. Has this boat been in the wind tunnel? If yes, what modifications have been made?
10. What other applicable information can be given to the OSO community so we can base our opinions on fact, not fiction or speculaltion?
Matt Trulio,
You started this sh*t storm, get us some info, chop-chop! (just kidding) But in all serious tell us all you can.

Basically, if OL does take the record, I will have to drag the old 12 meter down, wax the bottom, raise the X and blueprint the trs's, straighten props, add some octane boost, switch to amsoil 0 wt oil, dry up the stringers, remove the anchor and all the mismatched bikini bottoms and tops from the cabin, and i shouldn't really have a problem taking it back.

Well, the Rio Roses boat (former kilo boat) is for sale in the classifieds.....
I think the Fountain "believers" should all pitch in, pull a few strings and run head to head against Outerlimits!
LOL
