Someone stated that the 388 may be "loose". I will admit it does have a light airy feeling while driving, but nothing I would consider unsafe by any means. Locally there are two 388s with serious mods. One is an ASD7 Conversion boat with 800HP that runs well into the trip didgits, the other is the "famous" Black Cloud 388 with Arnesons that put down a 140 +/- MPH years ago, owned by the late brother of Rick from Aquamania Racing.
If evening cabin luxury is your thing, lean to the 37 OL.
388 gets the edge of easy towing, faster with small power, sleeker lines.
37 OL may get the nod in extreme rough water
Again, neither are bad choices. both great boats. Two local 388s are currently for sale, 540 cui 388 xr for $70k and 800HP ASD7 conversion for $119. Both extremely clean on great trailers. PM me if you would like contact info.
Also Kevin (cig92 oso name) is selling his ultra clean 37 OL that has big NA power and runs strong and reliable. You can PM me or him direct for contact info.

All good points. The 388 does ride a little firmer than a lot of boats in its size, but it was about unbeatable in F2 for quite some time. The boat is built to take it. Its a "Get it on top" of the waves kind of boat. 4bus has hit the nail on the head! And yes, the bravo boats are squirrely above 97 or so. There is a bottom change that Huslter will do if you want to run over 105 or so....or just buy the 39 Rockitt.
Like 4bus said, really cant go wrong, you're deciding between two great hulls.

I looked at a 388 Hustler and 3 different 37 OL's before buying the OL (also looked at 39 Nortech, 37 AT, 38 Donzi ZR etc.) The Hustler's cabin eliminated the 388 as an option for me. If you don't use a cabin much or overnight etc., it would be fine. I've heard of the chine walking over 100 MPH with Hustler, but I personally never rode in one after seeing the cabin size. I'm sure my 37 OL isn't as easy to tow as the Hustler, but on my Myco, it pulls fine, and safe.
The only thing I would warn you about with a 37 OL is that you're going to be buying an older boat. It can cost you a bloody fortune to fix it up, and if you do a complete re-do, you will have as much in it as some new, or at least much newer, boats. Good luck with your puchase!

Both good hulls. If you are thinking bigger power, search here on the 388 becoming a handful at speeds over 90 MPH is what I seem to remember. Not sure if bottom tweeking solves it ? Smaller power, no problem. Outerlimits has higher freeboard and bigger cabin, as mentioned.

Our 388 runs good in 3-4's you just have to get on top of the waves. The OL are great boats also, and I would also love to own 1, but our 388 was a killer deal, and I love the how it is rigged and the paint

If you would stop buying 18 inch thick resin buckets from yesteryear, you could downsize your truck as well........and go fast
