a Lotta good info in this thread, I did not see where the OP wanted twins or did not, might have missed it, IMO you can not go wrong with a 88-91 Formula 242ls, there sporty, 58/60 mph boat and love to cruise at 45/50, and they cut pretty good, get a tad bumpy, give it the power and let the hull do the work, I had one for my first boat, it was a great boat probably the best built boat that is in your budget, and they are always sell-able when it come time to move on w/o taking a beating, they are always worth 10/12k even more if its truly mint, they also have fiberglass lined floors, this is a big deal.... trust me

Another comparable is a Baja 240 these can be had for your money, they are great riding boats, the down fall is plywood floors, and a worthless cuddy, but they are a great pocket cruiser!

Another worthy mention is a Checkmate Convincer these can also be had in that price range, these will have aslightly larger cabin, there cabins are actually pretty nice, they also will be the quickest of the boats that Ive mentioned so far these also have a plywood floor,

Also consider a Liberator 241, this will be the biggest and slowest, but the most comfy and room, and plywood floors,

If you wait and get your savings up to 15, and consider twins, a 87-91 Formula 272 will be a great choice, almost 30ft overall, tons of room, and comfort, 15k can get you a 350/alpha combo 272 and there is nothing wrong with this package, a few pennies more will get you big blocks, but there pretty tough to work on and only a cpl mile an hour faster, remember that 87-up is key as the curved glass Formula's are always marketable, 85/87 272 LS models can be had like the one listed a few pages back, but make sure you swipe one because they can be a tad tougher to sell

Also 15k might get you a 280spt Baja, I am not real familiar with these models, but seems to be a good bang for buck again

Good luck,,,

Depends....
Do a quick search for "Klem Gem" or "Klym" for some nuggets of information.

Well I went to the bank and got a personal loan so I was able to bump my price range. After all the research I have done and I think you got it right with the 272. Just to get out on the water and get some experience first and then proabably spend a bit more on one and upgrade
