I would file that as common sense. I also would say that was not his point..... His point was more of "look what boats aren't at the first stop".

Don't need to be first. I have friends with boats in that pic I will gladly pay for gas for if that's my desire. I am fine with comfort and middle of the pack.

I haven't used it at all. It is 2000 with 2006 motors. The previous owner had it for close to two years, so I am pretty sure he had enuff wheel time to get an approximation on fuel usage. I am going off of the previous owners info and another concept owners who boats on the same water as I do and is on this board. I don't understand why it is so hard to believe a boat with efficient outboards that only weighs 4800lbs can get good fuel economy. I guess it's easy to be skeptical.

I get around the shallows in the bahamas just fine with my bravos. I can run in 18" of water no problem as long as I keep the speed up and trim up a little. At idle I need about 28" but the hull hits before the drives.

The single engine bass boats get 4mpg, can you get 3 mpg in the right conditions maybe and yes that is great for outboards but it is a long way from 4 mpg.
Your boat was tested but they only show the speeds but you can look at the fuel burn on the other tests at 3000 and 4000 rpm and get 10-12gph at 3000 and 17-20gph at 4000, that gets you 2.6-2.8 somewhere in that range. If you are really doing much better good for you that is great but unless you have smart craft or something else giving you gph and a gps you really don't know.

The shallow water thing has me confused. Unless your on a jack plate an outboard lower unit is very similar to an outdrive lower unit. You can trim an outdrive up in shallow water also. Outboards on a jack plate or not and outdrives will generally trim up above the hull bottom anyway so your still limited by the v bottom.

For the room I understand. Cleaning is about the same as both have vinyl and fiberglass to clean. The biggest difference in cleaning would be in the engine room and I get that.

So let me get this straight ... 0 time on the boat but the guy who was trying to tell sell you a boat told you 4mpg so then it must be true.

I love how butthurt everyone is on both "sides" of the debate. It's a boat, get over it. For some, a center console is a lot better fit than a good ol' go-fast. It's as simple as that.
