Good Info Oneanddone.
Where from Michigan. Grand Rapids gere 30 years now and never looked back. Strike Lane across from Pelican Landing off of 41 in Bonita has some large lots with privacy if that is your thing. I just brought 2 boats up through the Franklin Locks, that is a haul. Great wakeboard area if Gators don't scare ya , Not for me GR/GH rocks its gods country. The dunes, and the U.P. (Pictured Rocks) have to be some of the best sights MI has to offer from the water. Strike Lane is nice area they are great lots but not gulf access but close to ramps and far from nieghbors River is great for all water sports and..... "Gator Fred" is the only person that I know of as long as I can remember. He did get on Gator Boys TV show..LOL |
Looks like I might be moving down to Florida too...Job interview on Monday in Margate. Would relocate to Pompano or Boca.

Good luck Krypto brother
Looking at listings until my eyes are bleeding, im interested in listings that have more space.. like 2 plus acres and additional garages etc. found stuff like that in Fort Myers and Buckingham etc. I always have a bunch of cars and im really anal about my boat so i think ill have to be farther away from the water so i can have land and garage space and still be able to afford something. I think ill piss neighbors off too much to have them right on top of me. |

We are also looking for a winter home in Florida (especially after this b*tch of a winter!). Are there any good MLS sites that are searchable by area/waterfront, etc? Every one I have seen is terrible. They don't seem to narrow it down enough.

I like trulia. App for phone is easy cause you can search on the map and move it around to areas you like. Not always up to date but a good starting point.

Is cape coral a flood area? Theres so many canals and it looks like the elevation is really low. Im only up about 20ft here in mastic beach but its enough when hurricanes come.
Cape coral area does look like a big high performance boating area! The layout looks awesome. How calm does the gulf get?.. I know any area can become rough im in bonita on an acre. less than 15 min to lover key ramp which is just south of ftmy beach and on the backside of the gulf. no zoning issues and have a pretty good sized building. not that i don't like neighbors, but enjoy having a shop to work in and store all my junk. about 15 mins to airport without getting on i75 and traffic isn't half bad. another note, home owners insurance for 2 of my friends that own water front property in Englewood just have had major increases in their flood policies. not sure how that would effect CC but something to look at before. good luck property hunting. |
A big thing is whether you want your boat behind your house or not, sure there's bigger lots up and down the coast, but unless you don't care about the drop in the water and go access or don't want to spend a cool million the Cape seems to be the best option for us.
I hate hauling my boat, so behind the house it went, it's more what fits your boating style, good luck. |
I am going back down to Cape Coral to look at few more houses at the end of the month. I have been looking on zillow at homes
in the SW but what concerns me is the bridges and the lock. Should I be looking there? and there not cheap. |
