Who knows what cheap is now-a-days, we live in SW Cape and don't have a lock or bridges, if that's what you want you should look South of Cape Coral Pkwy, East of Chiquita and West of Skyline, but there's lot of other houses in SE Cape that don't have bridges either, you just have to get a map and look closely to see where they are, that's what we did before we bought, plenty of nice places.

lake murray s.c is great its a big 50k ac.fresh water, lake no speed limt ,no noise law , very little car traffic like fla, and 1 hr from charleston , but it does get hot as hell in july& august!!

All well and good but still a lake. Lol. I got Tampa, Bahamas, and key west I can go to from my lift. Lol

Like I said if anyone looking in the area wants I'm a little further upriver from joey314 (slightly less expensive) still easy ride out no locks and no bridges. Pm me ill give you my address and some approximate times out to things.

I have been following this thread with big interest. My wife and I have been looking into buying a condo somewhere down in FL. We were thinking about the keys. After reading this thread and looking at prices we are headed down to Ft Meyer area next month to look around. Any boat shows poker runs or races going on down there around the 13th 10 19th of April.

Sbi Charlotte harbor race April 11-14. Might be able to catch it.

You guys have it all wrong, Florida suc$. Much better north, fresh water, less time to put hours on the boat, no long hot summers.

Dont have to have a pool to use 9 months of the year..... I could go on and on.

Dont let lehigh scare you.like any other town, good areas & bad areas.i have a beautiful home in fort myers but it is on a quarter acre.very small lot.last week bought another home in lehigh,.75 acre , built in 07,1500 sq ft under air plus a 2 car garage on a very nice upscale street.pd 105k cash.i can put up another bldg for my cars & boat too.turning the fort myers house into a vacation rental.for the purchase price, I dont mind the extra 20 min trailer time to punta rassa by sanibel.good luck in your search.
