The more accurate question is what is the max you can tow - and still be covered by insurance.
Any clown can pull a lot and claim they can do it, but what happens when that rig gets in an accident and injures someone, then that massive towing capacity ain't gonna seem so cool at that point.

All things considered, looking at a competent driver with experience, knowledge and understanding, what is the largest/longest load you would tow. I ask this out of curiosity.
It's one thing to have a piece of equipment and 30ft trailer with a total weight of 14/16k as compared to a 40'+ boat/trailer weighing in at 16k.
Maybe I should have prefaced my original post in an effort to deflect derailment and the traditional OSO gloom and doom.

I think the question he is asking is how much would you feel comfortable towing with your current rig. I am towing just over 13k now with a Duramax SRW. I would feel comfortable towing maybe a 42 Fountain and that's it. Although longer really isn't the issue it's weight and height for me. I was looking at a 43 BT with a radar arch that sat up on a nice trailer with EOH. I doubt I would have gotten comfortable with that but who knows after dragging a 38 ZX for awhile I'm sure the BT will be a breeze. But for now my 38 is about it.

When I do need to pull, I pull a 2006 388 on a C-channel Steel Myco, ~10,000 lbs with a 2006 F350 6.0 PS SRW, only really had a 1 long pull from SC back to Fl, and it pulled it no problem down I-95 at 80 mph, and stops on a dine, Myco has 3x discs....
